this isnt a good measurement..since different dynos will read differently..its like saying...how much MPG do you get...

This is an extremely good topic but due to the different Dyno-platforms it looks like ,will lead us nowhere.
In general , Vishnu's website mentions an engine's power between 360-380 HP. -What does it means in rwhp?? -What should be the percentage of drivetrain losses? -No one mentions about torque...what would be the torque levels? Thanks

12.8 % loss for 6MT. 15 % for step.
That means 6MT cars will be making 2% more HP to wheels. Last edited by zenmaster; 07-22-2007 at 06:51 PM.. Reason: update for step loss. |

so then what is the conversion to bhp? about 420 hp and and 440 ft/lbs torque?
if so that is crazy you gain about 100 hp and 100ft/lbs with a procede...what does v2.0 do 450HP and 480 ft/lbs torque? this sounds like AMG power not M power!!!!!!!!! and that is a great thing engine/power output wise!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

I'm sure you realize this but some may get confused by that. BHP should be the same regardless if it's a manual or step, the difference caused by loss will be at the wheels, not the motor. For laughs we'll say it's 430 BHP so a manual would be about (430*.128) = 375 RWHP and a Step would be about (430*.15) = 365.5 RWHP

Just thought about this: 2% is about 8hp.
91 oct. vs 93 oct. can be a difference of 10hp. At 10lbs per hp, 18hp represents about 180lbs. So a 91-octane step car should have same acceleration as a 93-octane 6MT car carrying a 180lb passenger. That 2% alone more than makes up for the 45lb weight difference between sedan and coupe. |

Dyno #'s are great when you're working on a car to help you assess the gains from mods but pretty useless other than to boast about how big your number is (which is also useless BTW). End of the day, the only thing that matters is the time on the track slip. |
