Did you ever get these tires? I'm thinking about getting the same and wondering if the will rub in the back since they are running wide.

I usually don't go for the cheap tires, but I want to get a dedicated auto-x tire and put those on my stock 18" wheels and then something inexpensive for the 19" street wheels. The money I save going with 18" auto-x tire, versus 19", almost saves enough to pay for a cheap 19" street tire.......crazy! I guess I could go with the Nexen's also. Was it just price that made you go with those, or did you compare them otherwise? |

Well the price is pretty much why I went with them. At the time I needed tires I just got new wheels and some other mods so I just didnt have the money. I got 19s and they cost me $611 for all 4 tires and the $611 includes mounting and balancing in philly. So it was just to cheap to pass up. I know they are not the best tires, but in my honest opinion, Id buy them again. In my mind there was no reason to spend over $1000 on tires. And they are offered a promotion that if you get a nail in your tire or something thats unrepairable, nexen will give you a new tire. So I just went with them. I say give them a try. I got them from tire giants in Philly. tiregiants.com check it out.

On my 2nd set of federals on the e92 and probably the 6th set I've owned between other cars. I love these things for street/daily driver tires (use separate track setup). If you are going to track, drive in snow or ice or lots of rain then they probably wouldn't be a good choice.

Yeah, SS-595's on all my daily drivers for the last 5+ years. I also use the Federal 595RSR's for the track.

There is a guy in a M Roadster that runs the 595 RSR's at the autocross and he does really well. I wonder how they compare head to head with the Hankook R-S3's or other good auto x tires? Have you had experience comparing them to other track tires?

I felt they were on par or better than most of the last generation of popular track tires but from what I hear rs3's and star specs should be a bit better.

You are probably right. Allthough the Hankook R-S3's or the Dunlop Star Specs are probably a bit better, I just don't think they are worth double the price.

I know this is a very old thread, but are they really wide like everyone else says
I'm planning on getting these. I initially was going to get 235/35/19 265/30/19 But looking at the picture on the first page, it looks so much wider. What are your thoughts on this? Thanks. Quote:

Yes, they do run wide. Its usually only something you have to worry about if you are maxing out fitment to within a couple mm's of clearance. If you have a moderate or even semi-aggressive wheel fit then you should be fine.

I also have them in 19's and have run on them for about 30K miles. They are very loud in my opinion. When I take turns on a slow speed, they are even louder! but i'm glad they have lasted this long.

My e90 came with a set on them, I would have to say theses tires are great and I plan on getting some for my style 95s. They are quiet and really work well in the rain (I live in PNW it rains every day, alot) I'd say the only draw back is there life I am thinking this is like a 20k-25k tops tires.

I asked my wife to get some tires for our e92 that we use for errands and she came back with
SUMITOMO HTR A/S P02 (W-SPEED RATED) You guys know anything about them, besides the fact that they aren't RFTs? $68 bucks a tire seems awfully low but she said we barely put 5000 miles a year and the originals lasted 52k. My thought was that if they lasted 52k miles, isn't that an argument to get another set? |
