If you bought the car from a BMW dealership, then it will definitely come with the 12 month AUC warranty

Am I right in thinking the AUC pool will only have cars in excellent condition?

I'm picking up a 58 plate 330d SE auto for £15k from BMW main dealer, it is definitely getting the warranty. It just seems like a good deal, it had been reduced from 16.5k. I just assumed it's because its done 53k miles. Im not complaining but I'm thinking I must have missed something. I didn't do any of the usual checks as I thought I don't need to as its an AUC.

I've had terrible problems with AUC warranty, got my 320D from Chandlers Brighton 3 months ago, I've had a few problems with it latest being diesel leak and terrible clutch judder, the dealership are saying that hose pipes are not covered under warranty, they want close to £700 to replace the breather pipe ? apparently it take 4 hours to change the damn thing as it involves removing the tank ? They can't be sure what's causing the judder, they want me to commit £600 to investigate the problem, if they find the clutch's worn then I am not covered, I'd then lose the £600 plus have to pay for a new clutch ? I am not happy at all spending that much on a car that I've owned for 3 months ?

Check out BMW clutch judder threads, I think it's a known issue so you may be able to get some goodwill from BMW.

The DPF on my 335d blocked beyond even being able to force regen at 60k, was going to get it cleaned but it split in the mean time so DPF is now removed! Seems the biggest issue is making sure the car is reaching full operating temperature, would suggest anyone buying a second hand diesel checks operating temperature ASAP and replaces both EGR and main thermostats if in doubt!

No matter what sort of journeys you do if the car isn't hot enough it will not regen the DPF, this is especially important if you are only doing short journeys.

It's bad that the dealers never tell you this when selling you the car!

got my car back today, they have regen'd the DPF, and changed 2 glow plugs and the glow plug unti and sorted a rattly door panel all free of charge, so fair play Syntner - excellent is all I can say...by the way - the car goes like a mentalist now, it noticeably picks up quicker and gives you an almighty thump in the back when you squeeze the accelerator, I'm in love again !!!

Excellent, I'm picking my 330d up in the morning. Is yours an auto or manual?

By the way, do you do regular short journeys?

It's auto. I'm lazy so it's perfect for that quick boost of power when u need to get past something quickly. Do about 40 miles a day. Some fast some slow some relaxed. Bursts of very quick just to keep the fun in driving

No.

There has been links on here with cars in not so great condition and missing history.

I'm sure some were aquired from the same auctions as anyone else buys from.

You can't make the assumption it will be 100%.

The BMW Insured warranty doesn't cover the cat, DPF or and other part of the exhaust system.

I found this out the hard way on my 335D

Really, that surprises me! I'll do a couple more checks before I hand over the cash!

How old is your car? The other interesting thing that you could do, if it is old enough is put it through an MOT. The reason I say this, is that my car failed it's MOT within the AUC warranty period, because of a breather pipe being split - because it failed the MOT, it seemed to be covered under the AUC MOT Guarantee. Car was in for a day plus, and as you said involved them dropping the tank.

Good luck
