i had the same problem. Take it back and make him re do it. Its a tinters job to know what he doing. have him roll down the windows, cut the bottom weather strips off. Dont pay him again obviously. Its his fault.

My formula 1 pinnacle tint is scratched to crap, over 10 lines on each window, and I've had the tint for maybe 3 weeks, which is extremely unfortunate. Looks like I'll be giving my tint shop a call.

A good tinter will be able to do it without any modification.
Deal with someone who has done BMW's frequently. Knock on wood, mine hasn't had any problems. I brought it up during install, and he told me "well do your windows scratch now?" I said no, and he's like "they won't when you add the tint. If there was a problem, they would've affected your non tinted windows too." The tint is so thin, its added thickness is negligible. He told me, its usually if you let dirt in, it gets caught on the felt and could (possibly) scratch. But something as simple as keeping your windows clean would prevent it. |

I tint my own, using GeoShield ProNano Ceramic. No scratches on my 2011 E92... Windows are up and down a lot. This tint is 4 mils thick, which is about twice as thick as most films...
If you run your fingers on this film it feels a lot more slippery than the glass did before tinting. Some films seem to attract dust, this one doesn't. Makes keeping the Windows clean very simple. And it looks great.

Anyone know a installer in North Carolina that can do all this work to make sure tints don't scratch? My tints look like shit. all vertical lines. some deep. some superficial.

It's an easy fix. Just install the Tint Protector kit. No more scratches. I've had mine on for three + years with no issues. Highly recommended.

I literally got my tints put on yesterday......has been just over 24 hrs. Obviously I haven't rolled up or down my window yet. I was told to wait 3-5 days for film to properly dry.
The guy I went to see, never mentioned anything like what you were describing could happen. He is a reputable local tint guy who does's cars all the time. In a few days when I can roll down my windows, I'll have a look. He said he only uses 1 brand of tint: SunTek The point he did mention, was that around the top of the rear windshield and along the edge of the front windows (E92), there are tiny dots that the tint has a hard time adhering too. That's all.... |

My 335i has the scratches on the stock dealership tint. Does a 535i have the same issue? I've had my windows tinted for 3 years on the 535i without any issues.
I'm getting ready to replace the tint on my 335i, but I'm having it done at a shop that offers life-time warranty on their tint. My guess is - if your tint is scratching it has more to do with a poor tint job than it does with the e90 windows themselves. Just my .02 cents
