Well what is running hot the oil or the coolant and what temp are you seeing.

If your oil is hot, its probably cause you dont have an oil cooler. If your coolant is hot you could be low on coolant, or have a failing pump or thermostat.

Usually over-heating results in codes and a warning symbol so if you arent seeing those you are technically within the tolerances.

Hey guys, I finally got a bluetooth scan gauge for my 08 e93 335i with 50k miles. I dont have any issues with high oil temps, overheating lights, or high cooling fan speed. My scan gauge consistently reads coolant temps up to 220 F with non-spirited city driving (it fluctuates rather frequently between 205 F and 220 F). That seems really hot! After seeing this table: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...temp+limp+mode It seems like my car is basically in "component protection" for a large percentage of the time. Do you guys think I should check out the t stat and water pump? I know that post #2 said that 220 F was average, but I dont think being in "component protection" would be considered "average."

That's normal. DME programmed the engine to run hot at stop and go traffic for emission purpose. The temp will actually start to drop down a bit once on the highway speed.

you can find all the information and more in here. 108 C for Eco mode, and 104 C for Normal. But it is unclear what exactly triggers these modes.

Hi guys
New to the forum and to a 2009 135i
I dont have an overheat temperature problem but mu question is how long does it take your car to reach 100C (210F) oil temp mark?
It is summer and my temp gauge seems to go up fairly slowly. It takes me about 15 min or more to get to 90ish C (195F) is this normal and is it a cause for concern?
