At what ambient temps? Without meth once your charge air temps reach 110f (unless you are feeding it different signal) the DME starts to pull timing. At 125 it is -3 degrees globally so way down on power by then. If ambient is 20f then maybe no problem but if 90f then major loss of power.

hey im not tryna hijack this thread or anything but...im gettin me e92 335i in december/january and i was wondering regarding this...would i be safe running meth just with a...lets say jb3 tune? would i have get worthy gains of doing such a mod? (meth that is) im not very familiar with modding...coming from a 350z stock..how much is just meth about whp gain ? ive just been fallin in love with this car because since it comes with stock turbo u get great results from basic bolt on mods and they seem decently affordable..

I saw an 08 E93 dyno 390whp/410trq with JB4 + FBO without meth. Great numbers and great delta, just don't remember his base.

I made 323whp/354trq with JB4 + intake no meth. These motors are beast and make serious power with a tune.y base was something like 278/288.

I just made 502tq and 445hp to the wheels on a 50/50 e85/93oct pro tune, meth is pointless now with e85 tunes. And im not even FBO yet. My ER fmic and charge pipe should net another 15whp once installed and map is adjusted.

I also got one of his 93oct maps to use when the car is FBO and he showed me a dyno from another 07 fbo with this map and it hit around 420whp and 470wtq no meth no e85 no n20. pretty crazy

If you want to know what you can make maximum on 93 octane pump gas only with bolt-ons, it's around 400 whp depending on dyno, and it's not a setup you'd want to sustain for any extended length of time. Expect maybe a 100-110 whp delta over stock at best.

On methanol/E85 or both you can squeeze 440-450 on a dyno glory run. Real-world expectation targets with consistency are closer to 430 max.

Wrong, you will still run into IAT compensation tables which will effectively lower your timing on E85 only no matter how good your FMIC is in the heat.

In the dead of winter though (as we both live in the Norhteast), it's much less of an issue.

And shot in the dark, you went to BrenTuning, correct?

All I gotta say is, get on a Dynojet, do a baseline on Map 0, and do some 60-130 times. At 450 whp you should be well into the 8's 60-130 and trapping well over 120 mph full weight.

did a 9.3 starting right at 60 instead of 40mph to get momentum going. Bren said starting at 40mph would shave about .5sec off so we're guessing its good for at the very least 8.8s as this was after the car was on the dyno all day and was still hot. Gotta get a vbox and my fmic/charge pipe and tial bov installed. The stock diverter valves were causing throttle closures so he had to dial it back a little and it still made those numbers. All I know is it's brutally fast on the highway and 4th gear pulls like a freight train

Why do you say get on a dynojet and do baselines? Are you saying do 60-130's on the dyno?

I didn't mean do 60-130 on the dyno. two separate events, sorry for the confusion.

Can you clarify that statement? Why would that 400 hp run be dangerous? Too much timing?

Guys if im running on FBO (cobb, intake, DP, AA charge pipe, stock turbos) on 91 gas only (not considering e85 because it is not available in the middle east, will it be beneficial to install a stage 2 fuel-it gas pump?

You are looking at 4 year old information, many things have changed since. If you have access to Meth, I would recommend a water/meth kit before the stage 2 fuel kit, if you are not planning on running E85 and the lpfp logs look good.

Crazy the amount of progress in even just the last year or so. And it just keeps getting better.

The problem is when you find out you can't run as much power as you were trying to on pump gas.

Not sure of the accuracy but I see around 420whp on 93oct+meth
I don't think I'd want to run 400whp on pump gas alone.

For those that don't know, running e85 mixes will have the same cooling and boosted octane effect as meth but in the cylinder and not in the charge pipe.

Better to be safe. Reminds me of the example of certain investment strategies being likened to picking up pennies in front of a steam roller. The penalty for getting it wrong!
