If you're interested in splicing into your nice reliable 328s ECU wiring harness, and start securing pins together with electrical tape, then the PBX is probably the right choice for you.

While the PBX may do the trick as far as remapping goes, I think the install procedure is incredibly ghetto, and opens the door to all sorts of problems. Search around here, plenty of "I installed my PBX and now my XXX won't work" threads.

This is all great information. I wish someone would post a video of an install like the JB4 one.

However from reading the instructions it seems pretty easy, but i can see where it could become tricky.

The only reason why im leaning toward the flash tune, is because the guy told me that the software he is downloading into my ecu are in the BMW's in Germany and that's the reason why it would not affect my warranty . I got to read more into it.

Problem is that if you get your ECU flash and BMW has to flash the ECU when you bring it in for something then the flash you had on there will be gone and your car will be stock again. And the person you're talking to is clueless because all the N52 BMWs in Germany are tuned to the same specs as the ones in the US. If what he said was true then the Euro 328i would be rated at like 245hp and not 230. Best thing to do is get a tune from either Eurocharged or AA and the device that they sell which allows you to flash the car yourself.

I pretty much agree with 1QuikWS6's points on the first page.

The install isn't that difficult, and I've never had any issues with mine for the 2+ years I've had it. And you don't splice into the factory harness, you remove the pins and re-arrange where they go - there is a difference, you aren't cutting wires. Like 1QuickWS6 said, if you can't follow simple directions, then maybe you shouldn't be working on your car, lol.

I'm now running an Active Autowerk tune, with the PBX still in the car, but disabled, and still have zero problems. By the way, We only get 91 octane out in California, and the AA tune run fine with that.

How do you like the AA tune vs the BMS tune? AA only advertises to get 5 hp more than BMS, but so many people here that have done both claimed to feel a huge difference. What do you think? And would you recommend the AA or the BMS to the OP?

I also did the 3 stage manifold along with the AA tune, so I got gains from both. it's really not a fair comparison. The two together gave me 39hp on my car.

Anyway, when I just had the PBX, I really liked it for the better throttle response it gave with the automatic transmission. The car drove so much better with just that one thing. The pbx gains were small - my car dyno'd a few hp more and about 9 ft/lbs of torque in the midrange. The additional power was only very slightly noticeable, but the better throttle response made it feel almost like a different car.

When you say real tune, do you mean the eurocharged tune? What is the difference between that and the bms powerbox. More power and better reliability?

I would say that there is no doubt that a tune will deliver a smoother power band and also a slight increase in horsepower. I just got my eurocharged tune and got a sweet deal from them so I had to pull the trigger.
