Close friend of mine used to live in a house that was haunted. He'd wake up and all the fish in his tank (5-6 of them) would all be dead overnight. He replaces the fish tank, and a month later, he wakes up one morning and the same thing happens: all dead, in the same night. To top that, he hears heavy footsteps throughout the house, mostly on the 2nd floor (3 floor house) where the master bedroom is. The footsteps are loud, and they sound like someone just walking; this happens to him even when it's only him at home. Aside from that though, his brother is staying over and it's just the two of them at night. His brother is taking a shower, my friend is in his room with music on, and in runs his brother wet from the shower with a towel around his waist, slamming the bedroom door behind him. His brother runs up to my friend and tells him to call the cops because there's burglars in the house. He heard people talking loudly. They check, and no one is in the house.
To top that, in the ensuite master bathroom on the second floor (of which has 2 entrances), if you closed one door the other one would simultaneously close as well. If you opened a door, the other one would open too. Thinking it's air-pressure that's doing the trickery, he opens all the windows and doors in the house and tries to see if that's it. Nope. Still happens. Now he's telling me the history of the house. The original owners had left in a hurry, didn't even bother saying their introductions (which usually happens when both parties finalize the contracts of sale). The only time he saw the original owners was when they were packing up the house, fast. When he moved in, he said the entire house looked like the people leaving were trying to leave fast. They careless left behind gym sets, $500 brand new in-box RC cars (just sitting there in a drawer), and even a diamond ring. Anyways, my buddy lived in that house for about 7 years and then moved. That was 6 years ago when he lived there. In the six years that he's been out of that house, the house has been on the market more than 6 times. I drove by the house 3 weeks ago and it happened to have another "For Sale" sign on the lawn. No furniture in the house. The house is completely emptied. No one lives inside it currently. The house was listed last year July 2011, no buyer. Re-listed again November, 2011, no buyer. Re-listed again this year, March 2012 and no buyer. The house has been reduced by $400,000 after only 1 year of ownership from $3.4 Million to $2.98 million. It's still on the market, no one is buying it. No one is living in it. Here's the active listing: 1408 W 55TH Avenue - Vancouver West South Granville Homes - $2980000 This story has freaked the shit out of me ever since he told me. Also, someone mentioned something about shadow persons. I also have another story about that, if you guys want to hear.

The neighbourhood is why it's expensive. This is my friend's house and it's just south of Shaughnessy neighbourhood where I live. Shaughnessy would be the neighbourhood with the highest income per family in BC, hence the expensive houses and the bigger lots, and the South granville neighbourhood is no different. This is about a couple blocks south of that area. It's also near the University. And the private schools around the area are the best in BC. But yes, Vancouver housing is ridiculous. 2nd most unaffordable city in the world next to Hong Kong. 14 year long housing bubble.

Someone did make a good point, their belief in science where things are tangible.
But len56, that is some wacked up sh!t happening in that house. I'm not saying I believe this, but back when my grandma was alive, she told my sister and I that she saw a ghost, an elderly man in an old fashioned wheelchair in one corner of her basement almost every night.

ME! I believe in ghosts. For 4 reasons.
1. Last 5 digits on my birth certificate are -00666 2. About two months ago I woke up at 230AM and the light in my bedroom was on. 3. About two months ago I have a framed picture (about an 8x10) that hangs above the left side of my bed. I woke up and found it on the floor next to the right side of my bed. Pick it up and hung it back up. 4. About one month ago same picture, I woke up and found it on laying perfectly my night stand on the right side of my bed. Now if it had fallen, it would have woken me up because of the noise, it would have broken Im sure, and it would have fallen on the left side. Theres no way possible for it travel (without assistance) to the right side of my bed or be placed on my nightstand. I have NOT hung that picture back up. I put it in my closet and so far nothing else has happened. |

If you want the estate properties here, it's anywhere from $6-30 million. It ain't cheap in Vancouver. But back to the thread. Sara those picture frame stories are crazy.... Do you live alone?

Now back to the ghost stories, this isn't a real estate thread.

1. Framed pictures would be faced down. 2. Personal items would be just laying in the middle of the living room floor. 3. A friend of hers who was sleeping over in the living room. came into her room and asked if she could stay in her room. She felt like someone was watching her apparently. 4. Person who works the front desk mentioned to her that he thought she was at home because the security sensors from her apt were active. 5. Noises coming from her patio, like something was tapping on something, but nothing there. 6. When speaking to her mom on the phone about moving out, the noises on the patio would start, and would become louder as she kept talking about moving out. When she changed the conversation and said she changed her mind about moving out, the noise would get softer and then disappear. |
