Nothing.

it plugs into the electrical signal from the gas pedal and changes the stock throttle map to a linear map.

Form instance in a stock car if you push the pedel down the first 20% the actual throttle is 10%, with these 'con' boxes when you push 20% actual throttle is 20%.

Overall the performance is the same, imho if you want more throttle its simple, push harder with right foot

Ahh I see. Well this wont be useful for me coz my foot is usually planted to the floor anyway.

Has anyone ever heard of a 320i petrol "chip", like the chips available for ford and holden, it just has more aggressive fuel maps, nothing magical.

pav is such an asshole about these things.

car companies pay less tax based on the efficiency of their cars.

non supercar models have a terrible throttle curve that makes the car feel like a donkey - thus saving on carbon related taxes.

throttle controllers allow you to remove the flat throttle spots of the car and make it wanna go.

making the car significantly more zippy and thus giving the feeling of more power as well as a much more responsive accelerator pedal.

it adds ZERO additional KW or HP

it gives a much more pleasurable driving experience.

as i stated before, pav has had a tune on his car for as long as he can remember, and fails to realise that his tune also modifies his throttle curve, thus acting like a sprint booster or pedal box.

i did a whole track day without S-MODE on my car, and it was the worst day of my life. my diesel was more fun to drive that day......(it had a pedalbox!)

bob, if you tune your 320i, you will FEEL a more zippy car. this is because the throttle curve has been adjusted (same as pedalbox or sprint booster)

fueling, timing etc is HIGHLY unlikely to be changed, as the manufacturer, through years of development will already have it pretty spot on.

stick to cosmetic mods and at the most a throttle controller (or even perhaps a performance exhaust)

The dude asked if it changed the performance and i told him the truth, NO

I could be wrong (the little woman has long told me this is the case) but i am pretty sure the JB4 does NOT change throttle mapping, in fact AFAIK the only tune that gives you the option is the corn cobb.

you might be right you know, im finding it difficult to find any literature to say it does change the curve.

procede does - and now even has the function to adjust it, cobb does, all ODB flash tunes do, all bench tunes do - it would appear that JB4 does not.

so you car feels really sluggish in normal D mode then yeah?

tbh i've never noticed sluggish (I have the dct thought???) except when the car is cold. I do regulary hit the DSC and sport buttons in the afternoons if i leave work early (read most days) but thats mainly for added traction at the TLGP

tricks the commuter into thinking ur pushing the throttler further then it actualy is.. e.g.: pushing the throttle 1cm is equivalent to 10cm before the pedal box. i have one. sooo worth it. soo much ffun

This man also speaks the truth. Being upfront with what the product offers and letting you know exactly what you're buying. If you're happy about this then feel free to purchase it. Sellers need to be like this and not exaggerate what throttle voltage amplifiers do.

Not sure about the other points I haven't quoted though, those are all high subjective. You can get the same 'zippiness' if you put your foot down further.

If you want your car to give more throttle input in relation to how much you are pressing down on the accelerator, then I'd suggest pedalbox cos at least you got local support.
