Engine did not move. It looks like the damage was more of a push/ scrape upwards. Idk if they will salvage it but definately light damage and fixable. My 335i was a lot worse and I fixed it.

Right on the edge. I'd push for it if they come back with a no.

Been there, still dealing with it 9 months post accident.
Best to get all the unbiased info first before being pushed down one direction. Depending where you live in Canada, seek independent appraiser for second opinion and perhaps have him/her at the repair shop to discuss with the insurance appraiser. Think about where you would like to bring your vehicle for a teardown. You have a choice for example in Ontario to select an auto body shop. Don't provide any authorization unless it is explicit and in writing (nothing verbal). PM me if you would like more info. Good luck!

My accident was April 11th. I ended up getting my check this week. So that's almost 2 months of waiting. I don't even want to imagine how long it would have taken if they tried to fix it.

Damm!! That's a pity! But, after just going through refitting my car's front bumper after being resprayed, it is shocking just how little structure there is behind the bumper to the front of the engine. Really is a case of, just don't have an accident! These days cars are designed to be occupant survivable rather than tough and capable of being repaired. And with steep parts prices, especially things like airbags, chances are most cars simply get written off!!

why all the excitement? Are you not at fault because you rear-ended a car? I doubt the cheque will be large enough to offset the increase in your insurance premiums over time.....

Im waiting for valuation of it (before crash) from insurance companies 3rd party valuer. They claim they speak to dealers and look on auto trader for a fair price, so in theory i could buy one again...
So if any of you guys wanna voice your opinion on how much you think i should get for a 59 Reg, BMW 318d m Sport (143) 31,500 miles with front and rear PDC and basic bluetooth kit. Hoping it takes me to high enought amount pay the outstanding amount on the finance plus excess of 350 - lemme know guys.... |
