Engine did not move. It looks like the damage was more of a push/ scrape upwards. Idk if they will salvage it but definately light damage and fixable. My 335i was a lot worse and I fixed it.

Right on the edge. I'd push for it if they come back with a no.

The vehicle that was hit was a RAV4. On the merging ramp I shoulder checked to see if any cars were coming. None were insight. I continued merging with the flow and the RAV4 stopped for no reason.
Still no update

Been there, still dealing with it 9 months post accident.

Best to get all the unbiased info first before being pushed down one direction.

Depending where you live in Canada, seek independent appraiser for second opinion and perhaps have him/her at the repair shop to discuss with the insurance appraiser.

Think about where you would like to bring your vehicle for a teardown. You have a choice for example in Ontario to select an auto body shop.

Don't provide any authorization unless it is explicit and in writing (nothing verbal).

PM me if you would like more info.

Good luck!

My accident was April 11th. I ended up getting my check this week. So that's almost 2 months of waiting. I don't even want to imagine how long it would have taken if they tried to fix it.

The verdict is in!!!

So I got a call from the autobody shop and the appraiser deemed the vehicle as a write off.

Thank you everyone for your inputs and support.

Damm!! That's a pity! But, after just going through refitting my car's front bumper after being resprayed, it is shocking just how little structure there is behind the bumper to the front of the engine. Really is a case of, just don't have an accident! These days cars are designed to be occupant survivable rather than tough and capable of being repaired. And with steep parts prices, especially things like airbags, chances are most cars simply get written off!!

why all the excitement? Are you not at fault because you rear-ended a car? I doubt the cheque will be large enough to offset the increase in your insurance premiums over time.....

from what i could see under the bonnet, some fluid was leaking - either coolant or screenwash

Driver A rear ended Driver B = careless driving charge. I got dinged with that awhile back.

Sucks to hear, hopefully the check was enough for you to get into another one.

definitely a write off, just look at the state of it. I notice there are ambulances in the picture, was there anyone badly hurt?

Glad to hear it was a write off. Now on to getting fair replacement value.
