FM Switching issue? Y/N: N*
6FL with(out) idrive: With iDrive ipod?: Y USB Flash?: N Production date?: May 2007 Bluetooth?: Y * I think I may have come back to the car and have FM come on instead of the iPod, but it only happened once or twice so I'm not sure if I was actually listening to the iPod before. Hopefully I'm just being paranoid after reading all these threads and everyone has this issue resolved soon. |

I voted no, because I have not experienced the problem that I understand is the issue for many. Mine will sometimes switch to FM after having been parked and shut off, but has never done it while playing (frantically looking for wood upon which to knock) - but my '06 325i did this too with the Sirius so that might be a different (distantly related?) issue.
FM Switching issue? Y/N: N 6FL with(out) idrive: N ipod?: Y USB Flash?: N Production date?: March '07 Bluetooth?: Yes, but my dentist says it may be temporary.

I haven't discussed it with him in about 3 weeks, but when I did mention it, he had not heard of this problem.

Same situatiuon as LEDZEP - only after car off for awhile.
FM Switching issue? Y/N: N 6FL with idrive: N ipod?: Y USB Flash?: Y Production date?: May '07 Bluetooth?: Yes On a side note. When I got the info that they were reimbursing me for my alarm ($490 + tax), I was told that Version 28 would be out next week and may have a fix for the FM switching issue. They were not sure as they had not received any formal info on it but the whispering down the lane scenarion indicated it migh tbe there. We'll see.....

FM Switching issue? Y/N: YES!!!
6FL with(out) idrive: WITH ipod?: YES 60 GB USB Flash?: NO Production date?: MAY 2007 Bluetooth?: YES This drives me nuts! I have to get this figured out. It switches randomly... no pattern or consistency. I thought maybe it was because I had programmed on of my touch speed dial buttons to go directly to the ipod... but it even does it if I switch using the button on the steering wheel, and it does it when I switch using the idrive. I also have issues with my HD Radio... it seems as though the signal comes in and out... which in turn causes repeating and a sort of echo effect when listening to the radio. When I am on a station that has HD radio capabilities... its as though the signal comes and goes (the HD symbol comes on and then goes off and then comes on again) Each time it fades in and out it repeats or echoes whatever was playing. Has anyone else had this issue? Or could this also be related to issues with the ipod and FM switching? Does anyone else with the FM switching problem also have HD radio?

One possible cause for switching is bumps. The system caches several seconds of the MP3 file playing. If you hit a bump jiggling the plug, the caching should take care of it. If you hit a section of rough road that exceeds the cache, it will flip to FM (or the last thing you were listening to, maybe CD).
To see what I mean, unplug your USB briefly while a song is playing. A brief disconnect is handled. A slightly longer disconnect flips it to FM. You could actually have a bad conection at the plug. Try wiggling the thing around while it's playing and see if it causes the problem. |

6FL FM Switching Problem
Correction: Production date was May 5, 2007, 8g iPod. I'm going to double check the connections, it looked solid on the iPod, maybe the connection to the car jack was loose, probably not. Going in for service tomorrow again, first time they could not replicate it, but it happens almost every song so hopefully I can replicate it. The service bulletin looks like it affects prod from 2/1/07 to 3/9/07. Mine is from May. Anyone have any other feedback / problems / fixes?

Just came back from dealer. I showed him the SIB found here, but of course, my car is 4/07 build, so not covered. They submitted a Puma, and told me to reset the ipod. I find it hard to believe that they still are not acting aware of this problem. So, I'll wait for an update. In the meantime, thank god for satellite.

6FL IPOD Switching Problem
I emailed a member who had the switching problem and he took his 328i to the dealer for SI B84 11 07 and had the MULF-2 module replaced, he reports that it FIXED his problem.
Now we have to convince the dealers to put the fix on vehicles produced after March 2007. |

took in to dealer today, gave them the SI and after 8 hours, they decided (along with BMW) to replace the MULF - tomorrow morning, hopefully will fix the problem. They are taking one off a stock car so I don't have to wait for one but that's assuming the other one works.
Mine is a may 07 production. |

I think all of this info you guys are filling out have nothing to do with finding the fix to the problem....
Today at work I replaced an MULF2-High with a production date that was out of the bulletins dates. By production date they mean production date of the MULF not the vehicle. I replaced one on a car that was over 2 weeks out of the range. And yes it did fix the problem and works flawlessly now That means ill be replying back to puma to tell them to update that bulletin as there are more affected MULF's than they think. Hope that helps you guys out a little...

6FL Ipod Switching Fixed
Well, 3 days later, dealer finally replaced the MULF. They took one out of stock and tested it on my car, found it fixed the problem, submitted PUMA to BMW, then over night ordered a new MULF, replaced mine and tested it for over an hour and said the switching problem is gone. Knock on wood, it all seems to be working, other functions seem operating. Looks like the MULF was the problem. I didn't get hasseled about my car not fitting into the production date on the SIM (i have a May production, not sure when production date of the MULF).
