Replied to your pm, but for wider audience, I never got any further with wiring. Just happy with the upgrade as is......unless anyone's got a plug and play!

The DIY guide has only 5 or 6 wires. M3 dct one has 9. So without knowing what those extra wires are for , you wont be able to follow the guide to make it work.

Does it say on permanently as the orig small square light stays on for a while as standard.
Kept a wiring diagram? Care to share ( obviously once you've sorted the teething probs!

Right cracked it!
I have got the lights to work correctly in each position, however when in the park mode the DS light stays on, i have twiddled around but no luck but this doesn't change how good it looks. Managed to get the live feed on correctly so it turns off after about 20 secs once i lock the car. It all seems complicated but its not that bad really, i used an electrical connecting block, stripped all the wires down and put them in the block and then used the gear knob wires to touch each wire in the block from the vehicle to find out which one gave a response. when doing all the stripping and connecting of the vehicle wires to the block make sure ignition is off, then put ignition on and touch the gear knob wires to the vehicle wires in the block, this way you can see which wires are which lights. Thats basically it and i ended up with 2 free wires from the knob so 7 were used in total. Anyone who needs a hand give me a shout |

Problem is the gear knob wires are all black and white, so you can put the vehicle wires in any order and then break up the knob wires and touch each coloured wire until the right lights come on.
I will take a pic and do some labelling to try and help you |

Top pic there are 2 blocks in the top block the power cables are connected, which is clearer in the 2nd pic. the 3rd pic is the selector cables in the lower half of the block then as you can see all the black and white stripe cables are from the gear knob you have to split these and touch to the relevant cables to see which does what. find the power cable first which will light the circle, then the rest will light up as you touch remember to put the gear selector in the right position first then find the relevant light i.e. put in reverse then find the reverse light so you know it lights up in the correct position.
i know this may look chip shop and could easily be done neater, however it works perfectly fine so each to their own fire me a message if anyone needs help |
