It's another 10% drivetrain loss, I'm not too sure about almost a 20% drivetrain loss for AWD. I would've said 15% for AWD & 10% for RWD (the real killer with Xis is the weight gains)

I'm a little surprised this etuning thing is so big... Is it really that accurate of a way to protune? Isn't running on a dyno significantly better as the tuning conditions are much more consistent?

I think it really depends on what your expectations are. For $200, getting some better timing or to change some of the characteristics seems like decent deal. Not everyone is looking to squeak out 100% of performance.

Well, here it is in a mature market, this is a four year living thread that has a few thousand people to back up the viability of this approach: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=1516351

How it was explained to me was that you basically get some dyno time, take logs & mail them to PTF. They mail you back a new tune, which you try out again on a dyno. It's a back & forth process.

OBVIOUSLY, having the tuner there in the flesh is not only going to be faster, but more importantly it'll be a higher quality "tailor made tune"

It doesn't have to be a dyno, you can capture the logs on the road.

I'm not looking to make my car faster, I would just like to get some of the timing back to make it more responsive. OTS maps are very conservative in that area. For $200 retail ($150 on sale right now) it's a bargain to me.

Sure it's going to take more time than having someone with you to tweak the map and reload it. That kind of personal service is offered by local pro tuning shops. Usually in the $5-600 range.

+1 For PTF . Dzeno is a great guy with a ton of knowledge. Made my car pull noticeably harder. Dyno results to follow
