I meant the fire extinguisher is under the driver's seat since she only sits in the passenger seat. LOL!

I haven't been able to find a picture of how the OEM one looks mounted, and I'm leaning towards the 2.5LB HalGuard, might be a tight fit. And from what I see with the VAC bracket it sticks out a tad bit. I want my passengers to see it in case there is an emergency those nitwits will know where it is if I am not around.

there is supposed to be an OEM bracket that is universal and fits all size extinguishers, but i can't seem to locate it.

i found it in this thread a while back: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=386026

if you find where to buy it, let me know.

i'm not sure how to mount an extinguisher to that black bracket that was posted. or if it's even compatible with non-oem extinguishers

I have the OEM bracket and got it from ECS. Fitment is perfect. I am just trying to see if a 2.5 kg will clear the seat and not stick out on the ends.

I think he means that he wants the tank under the driver's seat (his seat) so his wife doesn't kick the tank if it were under the passenger seat (his wife's seat).

This is the ECS bracket and it has an application guide. I can confirm it fits perfectly.

oooh i see now. the extinguisher itself comes with the straps/mounting hardware that fit onto this OEM BMW bracket.

i was thinking extinguishers come bare and i needed the straps and stuff from bmw!

those h3r extinguishers seem to be the least of an eyesore but they sure are pricey.

perhaps you can check the h3r site for local retailers. you may be able to test fit the extinguisher and return it if you have an issue

I agree. The questions is will the 2.5 kg dimensions fit in our car. Hopefully someone can chime in.

The 2.5 lb (typo on kg earlier) is 14.8" wide. The is going to be very close.

Looking more at this, it appears the 1.5 lb is very similar in size to the once included in the BMW kit. I wonder if that is large enough?

I know for most auto X events and other sanctioned racing events they require 2lb dry chemical or 2.5lb Halon 1211.

I would go with the Halon.

Jeff, the Safeguard and H3R are Halon/Halotron. Is 2.5 lb necessary or is the 1.5 lb enough? The 2.5 lb is 15" wide and will be tougher to fit.

2.5 ABC, keep it in the trunk. The funny part is that I have used it twice. Once on my buddies car, and once on my neighbors lawn/bushes!

Honestly, I woudnt skimp on size. I figure if the racing associations recommend 2.5 there is a reason.

I know a guy who had a fire in his engine bay and 2 fire extinguishers didn't put it out, but I dont know which kind or size he was using. It was a methanol fire and oil.
