Sorry to bring this one back to life...... but did that 5" silicone hose from ebay do the trick? I didn't bother to measure the one that came from AMS, but an extra inch of length is probably more than enough.

For what it's worth, I just installed my AMS intercooler yesterday. The part was drop-shipped straight from AMS, so it's the most current design. The passenger side silicone coupler is too short to make a solid, reliable connection to both the intercooler and y-pipe that exits the turbos. I finally got the hose to where it is secure, but it was a fight. It doesn't leak and it isn't likely to pop off (put ~17 psi to it last night) , but I'm not happy with the fitment of that hose.

I even went as far as removing the passenger side radiator locking clip and rubber mount so I could pull the intercooler toward the engine to get a better bite, then using a screw-jack to push the intercooler up to get the most coverage I could on both pipes. After getting the hose secure, it was impossible to pull the radiator bracket back into position to secure the locking clip. I ended up cutting the rubber mount to make it narrower, which gave me some adjustment room to get the locking clip back in. A slightly longer silicone coupler would have made all this unnecessary.

Maybe I'll shoot AMS an email to get the exact length of the coupler they provide, though I think 5" should be fine.

Sure did, still running strong.

It was a bit of a pain to get on because it was so long, but once it did it slid in nice and deep....

I wouldn't worry about it unless you are not seeing peak boost.

So I just installed the AMS intercooler 2 weeks ago and before that my car pulled strong to 200+ mph, now it won't even reach 180mph... Could it be that drivers side connector??

Are you boosting like before? Any codes?

Also AMS changed some of the silicone last year to make it easier to install so the connectors should not be an issue anymore provided this is a newish FMIC.

If so you would be getting a boost leak code most likely, although I suppose it could be a small leak. Although I expect it would be the coupler on the passenger side.

i didn't see anyway say it yet, from my past experience with turbo cars (turbo s2k making 508 whp on pump) i would use hair spray on the male end slide on quick, tighten up tclamp and done. hope this helps

So, I haven't got any codes, nor shadowcodes(BMW checked it). Although I think there is a minor boostleak that doesn't let me get that extra punch, I'm pretty sure I don't boost above 13-14 psi, runs 17.4 stock and I should do 19+ with the remap.

Am I missing something? Why do you say you're "pretty sure" you're not boosting above 13? You haven't logged?
