Just renewed mine a couple of weeks ago and assumed mine would go up quite a bit due to the thefts.

Mine dropped from about 1600 to 1000 for my 335 (21 years old, 3 points).

I'm protected NCB but doesn't make so much sense.

The insurance companies always ask how many NCB you have then, how many claims or accidents you've had in the last 5 years.

Good to see many quotes going down.

Though 400 is a lot was only 100 quid when I was your age, that's a long time ago though

If there was a massive risk in your car going missing, why are premiums slumping?

That doesn't make sense.
MY actual premium probably hasn't gone up because I guess that out of all these thefts, I doubt that 2005 3 series' (i.e. my car) have been the most targeted. And thats why I don't worry too much - the later models and higher series' are much more likely to be the targets. Why steel a £7k 2005 3 series when a £50k X6 can be had just as easily?.. Its the same amount of work/risk for the thief but a much bigger payday.

I recall someone on PH did a FOI request of WM police and (from memory) in 2011 250 something BMW's were stolen, at the end of June 2012 over 350 had gone walkies. If that continues it will be 700+ for 2012. Its a big jump but its across the whole range and probably most are new and more valuable cars than our humble e90's.

I would imagine thieves would pick an easy target.

£7k for a an evenings work isn't so bad.

WM is a place all to itself. It seems to be the hub of all things illegal and corrupt.

We have many intelligent people here on this forum, I am sure if we pool our resources together we could easily get our cars back.

imagine: Thief wakes in the morning, brews his freshly ground coffee, walks to the window to check on his "new" toy he stole last night, only to find it gone. He spills the hot drink on himself and gets burnt!, runs outside to see a lovely handwritten note saying.

" we know where you live. So long sucker....... Oh and my insurance didn't even go up! p.s Try harder next time. Love Kerr"

Strangely my insurance will go up by 10-20% on renewal on my E90 318d however since I've been looking at the F30s especially a 320d Sport Insurance comes down by 20% however I'm not sure if I could justify the extra 5k to swap the cars.

Been quoted £1900 for my post-mod annual insurance (with 6years ncd) can't really get much worse than that..
