If i had to park my car often in an "unsafe" area, I would consider:
- new OBD port location
- original OBD port pins hooked up to a loaded taser gun surely that will ruin their day and equipment. But i take a large 12V capacitor will do much the same with less show

Is there a larger discount if we were to give you 20 potential installs?

Is it recognised by insurers as an additional security system? Or do they think Thatcham 1 outstrips it anyway?

No it's not recognised as an insurance approved alarm. As manufacturers are releasing cars with insurance approved immobilisers and alarm systems as standard, there is no need for it anymore. Believe it or not, your BMW already cat a category 1 insurance approved alarm and immobiliser, adding another cat 1 on top won't be recognised.

Common sense indicates that fitting a system like this will reduce the risk of theft and should therefore reduce premiums... it's a shame that insurers don't see it the same way.

Well, i couldn't mind if is going to happen if they're going to take my car anyway!
I suppose that jacket is just a copy, right? Although that i just concern when traffic police found it in my car what should i say to them then?

My mate's dad is a policeman and he always put something like: police souvenirs, badges etc inside his cars to avoid some 'trouble', when officers ask why he has such things in his car then he just tell them his dad is their colleague.

You could try saying something like "Hello, hello, hello" or "Evening all", I'm sure either would go down well

What is "the next alarm system"? is it a Viper still & what is the part number?

The next alarm system up uses the LCD remote instead of the LED remote. Same remote used with the viper 3303 alarm system.

Possibly in for alarm with just one tone not 6, tilt and glass break sensors added.

Less than £600 all in yes? Please confirm.

Also a question if you take the transponder from the second key for remote start can it be repaired when the alarm is deinstalled or would I need to order a new key from BMW

(Or I could just wait for the thieves to try and steal my car then nick a key off them I guess ... heh.. )

I'm afraid I don't know the difference between all these systems although I assume the "system up" is the 5704 & IIRC shortie has the 3303.

Based on the above, I guess my minimum spec would have to be the 5704 with Viper flashing window logo & Battery backup siren (I don't see the point of a high grade system without this)

What about 'battery back-up', not bothered, or have you already included this?

Didn't realise it doesn't include that as standard. But I'd have been paged long before they can open the boot to get to the battery surely...

Hmm
