Really sorry to hear that.

That is very local to me, too close for comfort tbh.

I will keep a look out as I notice most E9X models since I got mine.

Bad news man - so sorry!

If there was no smashed glass etc, how have they opened your car to get to the OBD port? Have they grabbed your remote code?

Sorry to hear about your beemer .....

Worrying to know 2006 models are not safe, really needs reporting to watchdog and BMW, hopefully your insurance will give you a decent pay out, not that that makes any difference at the moment

Couple of month ago I had a chat with BMW UK representative. Their verdict on any goodwill work was

'Only covers 5 years old cars'.

And I am sure that BMW thinks that this work is goodwill and hence should be covered for 5 years old cars.

Clearly explains why only car 2007 and onward are covered.

I have personally checked the access to some sensitive data of my car after locking it and letting it sleep. And that data was freely available to me on a fully locked and slept car.

Once again, BMW is wrong to accept that all cars are affected! Shame that BMW owners are being hit hard due to drive 'ultimate machine'.

Sorry to hear this mate. That's awful. I doubt it will be seen. It will be in a lock up within 15-20mins of being taken.

Good luck with the insurance! Hope it turns out alright for you.

I am sorry mate, will do anything to help you. Will have an eye on the Performance brakes as I am on eBay every day and will let you know straight away !

I suppose you didnt remove the OBD port thinking ehhh its just 320d, who would take it... I was the same but when heard all the forum members speaking about it I removed it the very next day and I am getting brand new disklok for my car this week.

Hope someone can find your car soon or if not you will be 100% satisfied with the insurance deal

Yer this software rubbish sounds another BMW fib

A lot of 2004-2007 cars with stop starts no key have been nicked it's a load of bullshit from BMW

The 5 year goodwill gesture sounds more the reason

OP, sorry to hear about this.
The search for your parts will need to cast a wider net; my buddy, who had his 5'er nicked a few weeks back via OBD port had a call from the BiB last week to tell him the car had been found, picked like a Christmas Turkey carcass on Boxing Day, in a lock up in Yorkshire.

Many thanks for the support guys. Real harsh feeling to be going through all my reciepts to send off the the insurer as its cost me a fair bit in the last year. Its a bit gutting being treated as a suspected party by the insurer and with no deifnate lead time to settlement.

My advice to anyone is get a disk lock or security film to prevent the breaking of the glass.

Not enough unfortunately.

Starting point should be moving OBD port and dislock.

Police have finally came round and told me it was spotted going through Dartford tolls this morning at 3am towards Essex.

I'm livid as to why then they got the alert no one did anything?

Well keep your eyes peeled in Essex

Dartford toll is full of CCTVs. Video can been obtained easily by highway agency and can be checked for the purposes of identifying driver.

OP, sorry for your loss.

It would be interesting to know if you relocated your OBD port?

I didn't much to my regret. The consensus on the boards was mine wouldn't be affected due to its age but now I know otherwise!

Well this is BMWs official comment... Cars prior to march 2007 do not suffer from the odb issue. Sucks for your mate... I have an 05, rang in and was told this
