I had Bilstein B12, new front and rear top mounts, and M3 upper and lower front control arms installed about 200 miles ago, followed by an alignment. All seemed well.

About 100 miles ago I had a new water pump and thermostat fitted. Now, with lots of steering input at parking speeds, you can hear a creak/crack/pop sort of noise from the front.

It turns out that the swaybar links are rapidly destroyed by this setup. I have replaced them with the same brand (Lemforder) as they are quite cheap, but if they break again shortly I will try some TRWs or other, reinforced alternatives. The Lemforder ones are really very flimsy.

Hope this helps someone.
Sorry to revive an old thread but did you find out a solution to this kevinlevrone? I've gone through a set of lemfroeder end links in 30k kms and would like something more permanent.

Thanks

The clunking you hear is most likely your steering rack not being secured. It is loose and every time you turn left or right, it will shift and make that noise. There are two bolts you need to fasten down to 41ft-lbs near the center of where it attaches to the subframe.

BMW recommends to replace the nut and bolts, but you might be able to get away without replacing it.

Hope this helps.

I have search the forums and haven't found anything similar or a solution.

I have an issue in the front suspension, car makes a sound like a tin can rattling when going over small bumps at lower speeds.

2012 335i w /M Sport Package, 52,XXX the car rides smooth and over 40mph the sound is gone.
Ive taken the wheel off and nothing seems to be loose, didn't have much time today though, will dig deeper tomorrow afternoon.

Any help would be appreciated.

When you open the hood push down with a lot weight so the car dips. Do you hear the strut mounts knocking? If they're too tight they knock. Too loose they also knock. Just disconnect the strut tower brace to get to it if that's it.

Actually after mounting cam, the sound is coming from the rear of the car.

Hey guys had a problem with a solution and a new problem!

Problem: clinking or like torsion sound coming from the front when goin over any size bumps straight or turning, slowly reversering out the driveway you can hear a clink even if the strut doesn't compress or anything

Solution: bought akg adjustable endlinks, measured huh to fender put the car on stands, removed wheels, jacked up each hub to heighth and I thightened the endlinks and shortened them as small as they go so they fit to a "should be able to pull them out on the ground with ease" not sure on the quality but will update seems to work fine

Problem#2(no solution) after replacing endlimks I started getting a clan and sorta spring click sound and I wondered if it could be because the links are too short? But I can barely get them on with pushing the sway bar down don't know if that can be the problem or the nuts need retighted or tapered washers flipped. From what I understand the links should get bigger but I have a prototype Reinhärte setup I don't know if the mounting pints are different? I Get those noises driving over bumps any imperfections or just turning in place! Any help I'll edit with solution! Thanks! P.s my car I lowered about an inch up front

Don't forget to start at the rear shock "tower" upper caps...

...the metal 'lids' against which the top of the shock hammers, can accumulate moisture - rusting completely through.

Per the attached image, it won't matter about your shock's condition, if it has no upper cap against which to push. You can get those kits separately from the shocks; and if you've not replaced them, I'd urge-you-to!

Passenger side clicking

When I turn and go over bumps my front passenger side sway bar end links rubs onto something and creates a clicking sound. I have already replaced both front sway bar end links and fresh front sway bar bushings. After all that it's still making the clicking sound. I don't know what to do.. HELP

Starting to get the endlink clunk in the front after "lowering" my 330xi with the B12 kit.

Here is what I'm replacing them with:

Turner Endlinks in the front - (Part# TSU9912135)

Hotchkis Endlinks in the back (Part# 25834R) - with Seals-It RERS2 rod end boots
