I'd suggest theres no such thing as a 272hp - unless someones got a VIN so we can prove it.
200kw is the go - or 268bhp. Sorry cant help with fuel economy.. She has lots of options though, sounds like a nice car and the LE-MANS-BLAU METALLIC colour is nice.

Could someone be kind enough to clear something up for me?
I've been reading up about so called efficient dynamics 330i's and I'm starting to wonder if mind falls outside of that category as I'm led to believe they came in around September 2007? QLD has confirmed mine is a ~270bhp engine rather than the 258bhp engine so the question is - are there two versions of the ~270bhp engine, one with ED and one without, or do all E92 coupes with the more powerful engine have the improve mpg? I'm driving up after work to pick the car up so would prefer to know before I get there if its likely to have inferior mpg to slightly newer 330i engines? Hopefully this makes sense? Thanks |

You've got the newer 200kw N52K - this delivers around 15% improved fuel economy over the older less powerful N52.

Yes it is, but the N53 is not in your car. I was talking about you having the latest N52 (which you have) is better than the original.
IF you had the N53 engine - economy would be better again. Compared with its N52 predecessor which was port-injected, the N53 uses direct injection (consisting of Piëzo-electric injectors directly in the cylinder) with a stratified lean mixture operation. The N53 has variable valve timing (called double vanos by BMW). Unlike the N52, the N53 does not contain variable valve lift (called valvetronic by BMW) due to space limitations in the cylinder head.

Oh and btw.. now I know what you were referring to... the newer N53 motor... we have also solved the puzzle of the insurance ladies question about power.
The N53B30-O0 has improved maximum power to 272 bhp (203 kW) as well as maximum torque over the N52B30. The N53B30-O0 can be found in the 330i (E90/E91/E92/E93). So to answer her question when you call back... no you dont want the insurance for the 272hp variant (because thats the N53).... you want the other option - which we now know in their world equals the N52.

Thanks mate very informative!!
The other option on the insurance was the 258bhp which I'm now guessing is the original N52. So I'm also guessing that the N52k that is in my car is a middle ground between the two? I will still use the 258bhp for insurance as in my eyes the N52 and N52k are related and I deffo don't have an N53. Have I got any of that wrong? |

No.. thats exactly right... N52 is N52..... not N53 - so definitely tell them the 258hp option as to them, that represents the N52 family.

Mine was apparently ex-demo. The second owner then took it to 76k miles without an issue before I bought it from them. OP - got the pics up then ![]()
