And besides, different and more current insights might come from a later post on a subject that has previously been discussed.

Others undoubtedly feel differently, but the comments telling people to search something are much more annoying than any further discussion of an issue that is of interest to the original poster.

100% agreed. If people searched for every off topic thing, there wouldn't be anything to discuss anymore. Most topics have been covered at least once anyways. Real sick of the trolls. If you don't like it, don't read it.

I talked to Rogue Engineering today and they said the SSK for the 335 E90 should be ready in a few weeks.

I called Rogue in December '06 about my 335 sedan, and they told me they'd have a kit out in January or February '07!

In the 335 accessory catalog I see that they have a shorter knob that looks just like the stock version. Is this the one you guys are buying or is there a different one? Anywhere I can get one cheaper than the delaership?

the short shifter we are talking about is not a short shift knob, but an actual shifter rod and bearing that shortens the shift distance between gears.

A lot of us have done that already. That combined with the CDV mod makes the shifting 10x better!

Great. Where did you buy the knob from - your dealership? Someone posted a knob (all leather) from this site:

http://leatherz.com/Merchant2/mercha...ory_Code=Knobs

but I'd like to keep the look of the OEM semi-mettalic one.

Also, does the knob just unscrew?

Actually, now that I look at it, that knob may not be for a 335.

They all fit the same. They "POP" off. You can do a search on how to properly remove the shiftknob without a bloody nose. Just make sure that whatever knob you get, it has the boot as well.

Youre correct. What I meant was, the one from BMW in the accessories catalog comes with a new boot as the knob is attached, not a seperate piece.

Ahh, so the OEM short knob comes with the boot attached. If I buy that one then I need to replace my boot as well?

So, in terms of OEM looking short knobs, I really don'y have any simple choices? The one on ebay looks like the one from leatherz.com, only leatherz has it for $58.

I'll do a search to help me avoid putting my nose through my skull.

Thanks everyone.

i emailed leatherz to ask if theirs is weighted and they said no... and that it was "oem" maybe they meant there is no extra weight added? i thought the oem WAS weighted.. .anyway.. there seems to be two different versions on ebay. the ones with 6mt are like twice as much but both 5 and 6 speed are stated to be weighted.

You can still get the ZHP knob directly from BMW, i just got mine about a month ago. I have heard that some people that ordered that got the "superceded" one though.
