too many shit roads to say runflats are ok here in the UK
you do notice it a bit but for spirited driving, or high speed driving run flats are MUCH safer, if you were unfortunate enough to suffer a high speed blow out

knock on wood, but it seems like the risks of high speed blow out are virtually zero. I would like to see statistics. I've gotten a lot of flats, but never one that I couldn't handle.

Obviously in my case the deflation was rapid, but not instant .. there was no loud bang and I was totally unawared of what had happened. My point was really just that I was happily doing 90 mph on a totally deflated tyre and the car was tracking dead straight. At the time this really impressed me and it's one of the reasons why I have stuck with BMW. |

well having seen tyres of both deflation types they are distinctly different after such events, one tyre may even be repaired
the other is OBLITERATED ![]() your right there both delfations of some sort, but sill different at the same time i wouldnt really say i had a blow out if my trye jus deflated rapidly but was still intact nigel mansell adelaide 1986 springs to mind! Carlos

I've had two blowouts on the road over the years, one at 30mph which was no problem. The other at 60mph destroyed the tyre and wrote off the wheel in the process.
The XJ6 that had a blow out in front of me at 90mph on the M6 wasn't so lucky, he side swiped the armco. Regards Chris

I had an air bag on the rear air suspension burst. The rear collapsed instantly and the rear wheel arch dug into tyre, ripping it to bits. I was lucky to bring the car to a halt without rolling it.

I’m going to have to replace the rear tyres (Bridgestones) within the next couple of months. I looking to stay with RFT, but don’t know if I should stay with Bridgestones. What are you guys running on and what do you think?

Had PS2s on our first 330d and they were a better tyre than the Bridgestones on the second 330d. Also had PS2s on my MG ZT and we now have them on the 335d. When they wear out out I will definitely fit the same. Superb water clearing properties in the wet.
Regards Chris

They have been a little 'skitty' on black ice, but otherwise fine! The DSC & active steering have helped a couple of times in the winter. More info here. When I need to replace them, I'll probably try out the Michelin PS2 RFTs, just to see what they're like. All the best. Viv |

Now Paul, are you still talking about the tyres, or about your night with the old ladies in the Hilton Hotel, in the other thread?
