They're not the factory ranches, so there aren't that many cows that wallow in filth. Plenty of bugs flying about.

Yeah they still get in, but they just pile up in the base of the airbox - I vacuumed out two wasps and a huge moth last time I checked mine!

It is commonly thought that the purpose of the air inlet above the driver is to 'ram' air into the engine like a supercharger, but the airbox does the opposite. The carbon fibre duct gradually widens out as it approaches the engine, effectively creating a venturi and a suction effect on the small air inlet.
