Got off work at 8am and it was just a clusterf*ck coming back up from bloor. Saw a few e92's (dunno if members) and other rwd'ers going diagonally in a straight lines lol, and a bunch of fwd'ers just stuck spinning their wheels.
Have to head back to work tonight - alotting a half hour to dig my car out of the driveway lol hopefully the highway will be plowed by then. Alright, all together guys: F*** WINTER. |

I live in Woodbridge and the snow plows decided to not touch our roads until overnight. Shoveled 3 times last night. Lots of cars were stuck trying to get home on my street. I was able to drive safely today, but didn't attempt to leave the house yesterday. I have brand new Nordfrost 5's on though, they're great in the snow.

Saw a number of Corrolas slipping like crazy all over markham, a few trucks and greyhound bus stuck on highway on ramps. About 5 bmw (all RWD and just spinnin fast which is dumb) stuck in entrances or exits of roads. If they just comtinued with momentum and apply little gas they mostlikelu would be fine. This is where power does not help you.
Glad to say Toyo Open Country G02 worked admirably in the deep snow unplowed parking lots in Markham, Mississauga, Airport and on the 401. Almost as good as my Nokians, a little better than Yoko Geolander I/T. Way better than Falken Eurowinters. Last edited by Saturns; 02-09-2013 at 06:11 PM.. |

I've had 2 RWD BMW's equipped with snow tires and both cars have sucked in significant snowfall.

Roads were okay, plows are out pretty fast in Toronto. Wasn't in danger of getting stuck, but I didn't chance any hills. Parking lots were a mess though, I needed a friend to push, to get out after parking! Also saw quite a few abandoned cars in Markham, getting plowed in.

Winters worked just fine for me when I finally got going. My only issue was ground clearance. They didn't plow the exit of my parking garage, so it was pretty high snow. Looks like SUV's were plowing through it fine...not sure why I thought I could do the same (guess got cocky with the x-drive) but bottomed the bumper/undertray out on the decline to the street, and spent a solid 15 minutes (with the help of a friendly pedestrian) digging the snow out under/infront of the car so I could remove enough snow to be able to clear the height with the decline to the street. After that, the car was a champ (again minus the bumper acting as a snowplow at times). Hope I didn't damage anything on the bumper or under the car. The plastic tray seems to be a pretty good protection, just a little bit of a cringe whenever you hear something hitting it.

nothing dishonest about people saying they didnt have as much trouble as others during the storm. could have been because some people drove on roads which were plowed at least once, where as other people got stuck on roads which were never plowed until after the storm. my route to work included roads which were frequently used and so the snow was packed and not as deep.. i know for a fact that if i encountered deeper snow, i would have gotten stuck. just because a few people got stuck in the snow in their rwd e9x doesnt mean everyone who says they didnt is lying. |

Do you guys press DTC? I was stuck in DEEP snow and I had to push DTC otherwise I wouldn't move at all.. THEN I turned off DSC all together because DTC wasn't doing much without the added power... I hope my engine's ok I rev'd near 6k for a good 30 secs..

i got home on 407 just fine. . . i forgot about a long hilly road in markham.
I was completely destroyed by that hill. It took me 1.5 hours to get up. I will have to plan my route next time.

Not a problem on the roads, it's the first winter with my 335XI.
Half way to my work my boss called and told to go home.... so many cars in the ditch on 47, mainly hondas and toyotas and some pick ups. Got stuck behind a civic on a hill, the civic started to slide down sideways and almost hit my car....lucky I backed up fast enough and took another road home. |

On Hankook ice bears on a square 18" 225 set-up, RWD, stock suspension and the card handled most of the roads with no issues.
Had to drive from Toronto to Mississauga twice (Morning/Afternoon/Night) Also went Down town on Friday and Saturday with no issue. Used side streets to get home and also had no issues. Heck I even went up the Don Mills North exit off the DVP on Friday when it was unplowed. For those driving in areas with 2 feet of snow getting stuck, I'm pretty sure you weren't the only ones I had low expectations but was pleasantly surprised. |

I havent tried them myself but the Blizzak and X-ice3 have been rated the best stopping power on ice and accumulation of snow. I havent tried those as they usually are not on sale.

If your talking about Warden north of 16th I would not go into the valley when there is snow. Lots of cars get stuck in there.
