Different people will want different things from a car hence different models, variations and options. I stand by my opinion that most (not all) people if they have the money would prefer sat Nav (or more accurately I drive) and leather. |

Hmm it's hardly to do with money is it.. Most people speccing up a brand new one of these (specially the higher end models) would be able to easily afford the extra for idrive.. I don't belive on a 5-6 yr old car it make them worth any more either (I don't care what 'book' says) they're worth what people will pay... For most people buying an older car the idrive will probably just be a nice to have.. But for me at least it was something to actively avoid. Even though cheaper cars had it! |

Even though the sat nav looks really bad in terms of dashboard integration and might be confusing and drive you mad I would like to have it, but would never look for a car having one ! If I get the car I like and it comes with it, then cool... I would never waste my time looking for a car that comes with the bloody sat nav and would never pay extra money for it The same with the leather interior, xenons etc... If I find well maintained, low mileage, good price, decent age and manual 335i with no extras (nav, leather, xenons etc etc.) I would buy it straight away 335i is a 335i - master piece in itself Chasing something hard to get is pointless...

It's got 98k
Not huge mileage -it's still a BMW after all! £11k without mods is where I'd be tempted to sell. I have 3 cars at the minute so makes sense to consider selling in the next few months.

What's with all the negativity towards the idrive? I'm still new here, buying my own 320d very soon. Worth looking for one with idrive? I thought it was just a nifty sat nav tool?

Personally, I can take or leave it. USB is far more important to me personally than I drive. A 335i SE with cloth and no nav was for sale last year, absolutely A1 condition and 34k miles (I went to view it). It was an 07, manual, with electric (unheated) sport seats, xenons, burr walnut trim, 18" wheels and Pro Loudspeaker. Price was 9995 after being on sale for some months at 12k with no movement. I wasn't quick enough and missed that car but the very odd spec dictated the price. Not many want a 335i without leather, most don't care about speaker systems and almost everyone hates wood! Personally I thought it was a great looking car in Montego Blue and know that swapping wood out for alu is an easy job... To be honest I am still a bit gutted that I missed that particular car as I ended up spending a lot more on an LCI

Nothing wrong with it at all. Quick straw poll will show that from those that actually own it, the vast majority are glad they do. The LCI version is a great improvement. I-drive is more than a Sat Nav (See the other comparison threads already mentioned). I have used my screen display EVERY day, and the inbuilt Sat Nav (with Speed Cams incorporated) is great for driving about Europe - not all of us travel round the corner to the shops every day. Police also not interested in the slightest about camera detectors which carry a fine in some countries. Of course if you don't like the aesthetics of a 2nd bump on your dash and want that smooth look ... sucker onto your windscren an aftermarket SatNav unit. D.

In the end i needed to jump into one as i was getting fed up of looking and opted for mine with the intention of retro fitting Alcantara at a later stage.

For me it looks more natural. Looks Just "Right" It's quite a good command tool.

iDrive or not, a 335i/d for £10K is bargain, I doubt I would get £14K for mine if I was to trade it in (08, 42K)...still all the more reason to keep the car, not exactly a bad thing

Here is a E90 with iDrive - dont tell me that looks great :
Here is a F10 with its fantastically designed iDrive : I hope you see the huge difference and see how the iDrive should be done. iDrive in E90s looks soooo damn bad (Katie Price's arse as someone mentioned here before) : Its not that I dont have it so I dislike it. I just didnt want one because of the looks Please dont get offended by any mean

TO be fair , you are comparing a 6 year old design with the new one's. ofcourse it would look better and function better and you had to choose a interior that look so cr@p.
It doesn't look too bad i think but once you are used to it then this looks abit plain Age contribute to consumers taste too.

I have many issues with your pictures before the iDrive. There is far too much brown going on there. Poor choice of dash trim and seats.
This looks signicantly better As does this and this I don't see the issue with the iDrive, but each to their own. This just looks a bit plain? |
