Thanks for the reassurance. When you say to inspect the inside side wall, do you mean that I should have the tire taken off the rim and inspected from the inner aspect?

Anyone here like rfts....and have recommendation on newer generations.
Thinking of going back(I know crazy)but I like the crisp turn-in and well the Rft ability.....but could live without the explosions.

First thing you need to do is take the wheel off the car and inspect it. If all looks ok, then fill it up with air to the max psi as indicated on the sidewall of the tire itself; let it sit over night. The next morning, check to see if the air pressure changed at all. If it's about the same as when you filled it, then move on to Step 2.

Step 2: This step is kinda like datalogging your car, but without the risk of getting a speeding ticket ... Go to the steepest hill that you can find in your neighborhood (preferably at night). Now, roll the wheel down the hill with enough force that it reaches a speed of AT LEAST 25 mph. If it ends up veering either left or right into someones yard, first assess the damage that may have been caused by the wheel crashing into someones property. Next, immediately retrieve the wheel from off your neighbors lawn as quick as you can without being noticed. After fleeing the scene, take the wheel to a trained professional for further inspection because there's obviously something wrong with either the wheel, tire, or both.

The good news is that if the wheel ends up rolling straight for at least 100' before crashing into oncoming traffic, etc. that means the wheel and tire are fine!! Remount it onto your car and you should be good to go

You need to buy a new car. Your suspension is trashed now. No chance you don't have a bubble, alignments issues, struts, shocks, wheels so just start looking for a new car.

On a more serious note, RFT's are horrible!! I just switched my entire set up yesterday with AG 19's (359) and Conti DWS for my x drive. Worlds apart on how it drives. I might get a flat tire kit and jack for the rare day I pick up a screw or nail. May not even do that as I can't remember when I had a flat last time. If you do switch out stick with 18's with more sidewall cushion. Do your research on TireRack. Pick "consumer best" and don't look back. I've been doing it for 12 years on that idea and have never been unhappy. As far as your current tire... probably a bubble and/or bent rim. Get it checked and start searching.
