Have any of you done any messurements with a racelogic or similar on 0-100km/h(0-60mi/h) as proof of the breakboost i 2 is better than break boost i 1 gear?
I'm just asking since I did some testing in my tuned E91 330dA(307hp/687nm). Without breakboosting I got down in the low 6 second area in 0-100km/h

Makes me wonder how others with US spec cars and only a JBD are hitting claimed numbers of 5.7 sec or better? Then again, the amount of variables in such a test are huge. |

@Hipek
Was the numberes there wil breakboost or just holding the brake, switching to the gas and floor it? And where your racelogic set to a fod rollout or without? As I understand it, the rollout setting is for aut trans cars. correct me if im wrong.

Well, first off, all dyno's are an approximation. Comparing one dyno to another isn't a valid predictor of who's car is making the most power. Multiple cars on the same dyno is a good comparison, however. For example, same car, same day, multiple dyno's, different #'s. http://www.turbomagazine.com/tech/03...ine_dyno_dash/ Here's some data I posted awhile back showing some Gtech 0-60 launch technic testing. Starting in 2nd worked best for me. <4.5 sec 0-60 with slicks, just over 4.6 sec with Mich Pilot Super Sports. http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...7&postcount=83 Drag slicks help with the 0-60 ft times, but have little impact on trap speeds. I'd say based on my testing the drag slicks gave me ~0.1 sec better 0-60 ft times, so probably ~0.1 sec help on the 1/4 mile. 12.65 ET on the 1/4 at a less than desirable DA of 2168 ft. And with all my emission components and stock LSD/intercooler in place. http://www.dragtimes.com/BMW--335d-Drag-Racing.html Trap speeds are very well related to HP (ET's can be a function of launch capability) and the 109.7 mph I've demonstrated on a real qualified track is the highest I've seen for the 335d. This guys claims a 410hp tune on his 335d but barely broke into the 12's. I think a lot of high hp claims come from over inflated dyno results, so I put little stock in them. I mean really, would you rather make a big # on a straped down roller, or have a fast car on the pavement? That last bit will likely stir the pot ... I'll put on my asbestos underwear now :-) |

I agree with all that. Another thing I didnt really think of before that post is that a lot of the UK/europe dynos are supposedly taken and converted to crank HP where as the US dynos are typically wheel HP. The problem with crank HP is that, as far as I know, nobody knows what the actual drivetrain loss is with our cars, and ive seen numbers like 18%, 20% and similar thrown around which IMO is too high. 20% for an automatic was somewhat accurate (anecdotal) up until maybe early 2000s, but the fuel price crunch has given us much more efficient transmissions, fluids, etc and if I were one to convert WHP to crank HP id likely use 15-16%. That 410 HP dyno could very well be more like 325 whp on an inflated dyno...nothing really special if you ask me considering that some guys with just JBD are posting numbers over 300.
