Honestly, and without bias the BMW is a much better all around car, it just is.

However, as a second or third car, a toy, something to drive on weekends with the windows down and HUGE smile on your face? The Z is really great. I've got thousands of miles of terrific twisties here in the Cascades and Olympics and the Z was a willing plaything.

But, HUGE BUT... It's rough, the tire noise is brutal, better with Continentals but even their historically quiet construction couldn't make it all that livable day to day. The ride is as you would expect stiff, but never jiggly. It is communicative, the steering does provide good feedback and once you ditch the OEM Bridgestones it's fairly predictable at the limit. However, if you've switched off the nannies be ready to catch it in uneven corners as it will step out very quickly, it's an over-steer car with the nannies off and throttle on which was huge fun. Easy to rotate it in the corners without being in over your head and it does so quickly. It's extremely nimble, athletic feeling.

The engine is powerful enough, but never really sounds like it is having fun, it kind of wilts at the high a little bit as well. It's strong, it just... I dunno, somehow Nissan has pulled some of the character out of the 3.7 VQ or it might just be the Smaller Japanese Horses giving up early.

The 6 speed "synchro rev match" tranny is very very good although it will make you look like a hamfisted git when you forget to heal toe while downshifting a standard 6 speed.

Interior is well finished and rattle free at least in the 23K miles I put on mine, tight (better like your companion) but comfortable for me at 6'1" and 225lbs.

So all around the 370Z was stone club reliable, Huge Fun, and was comfy enough. It just isn't anywhere near as good day to day, as the 335. The road noise was just punishing, and while it may have been on par with the 335i in a lot ways 0-60, cornering, braking etc. It lacked all the flexibility, it is a sports car only without the ability to do much else. I enjoyed it, but took a huge hit to get BACK to a BMW before the N54 was gone forever, and no I wouldn't buy another.

Seemed pricey to me as well for what you get though in the states they are willing to deal, though it still seemed like a lot of money. Mine was listed at $44k, paid $37.5.

Though the 370Z is dead sexy.

Mostly the Z was too noisy and too small.

The too small part is obvious and it answered a question I had to answer for myself, and that was will a true sports car work for me? Two seats only and all of that.

Turns out the answer was no, even with other vehicles on hand I prefer my fast car to also be more flexible, more every day.

SO I suppose I could consider Panama kinda of a Half way point... The new hotness is in the locks. I'm almost starting to feel it.

This is what I figured and why I ended up choosing the 335i over the 370z. At the end of the day the thought of a small 2 seat flat out sports car for a daily just didn't seem to be practical. The BMW does offer plenty of sport to be fun when you get on her but still has the refinement and creature comforts that the Z doesn't. I'm happy with my choice.

Picked up the new hotness yesterday, it's awesome. Not 100% on the DTC, I'm not hating it, but I probably should have stuck with a more involving tranny option. Though, I may come to appreciate it, and at $450 it seemed like an obvious choice.

Will post up picks when I get some worthwhile. But I'm stoked thus far.

OK so finally got a good second day with the car, departed on an Alaskan cruise for 7 days the day after picking up the new hotness, got back early this AM and spent a few hours with it.

I'm giddy as a school girl. As for pedals or lever, I'm finding myself in a hybrid mode currently. I use both but the lever is hugely useful mid corner.

I actually just put the DTC in D for the first time today, no sport button, and was floored at just how damn good it shifts in auto... Won't ever use it, but it's nice to know it there. Really smooth.

Love the sound as well, though I did learn that the golf tee mod walk-through needs some updating, looks like wires moved.

Oh and fwiw, a junior sweet on a Royal Caribbean Alaska cruise is the BOMB. Glaciers, trains, wales, and boobies... Sexy Romanian waitress mixing drinks... Large balcony, quiet. Such a better time than the crappy Caribbean/ Bahamas cruises. No ghetto feel, nice locals that aren't sleazy... Fun.

I've managed 140 miles averaging 11.1 mpg. Break in a motor with a lot of varied load, but it smokes your mpg.

Wowww a cruise! I'm glad you got back home safe to see your TiAg and had a great/safe time!

I too find myself doing a hybrid type of changing gears. For some reason, the paddles seems to lag a bit* compared to the lever in M, or just I'm doing bad changes at low gears.... and during corners i love using the lever more than the paddles.

I'm more on Drive than Sport mode because of the break in period. The highest RPM I've done so far was 4100. and quickly try to find 7th

As for my car, being a E93, I had to go through an extra panel to find the detaching cord but I did find it and it sounds amazing when I start it up!!

And one more thing about breaking in the engine, I think I'll plan on driving it in the mid to high 3000 till about 2000 miles (which I might do in a month, I'll just be cruising in the time being )

Anyways I hope you are enjoying the car as much as I am, my goodness these cars are heavy and smooth, I love it

Have fun and be safe Reviis!

I chose mine over this same collection except the sti was in place of the 5.0.

I came from a 350Z and even tho i loved it, was ready for something different.

The 370 was a nice upgrade but just that.....nice. Its nothing like the 335i and two completely different yet similar animals

I have always broken in my cars and bikes hard. I baby the brakes, but I will load the motor to 6000rpm with no fear. Launch aggressively, and allow a LOT of over run. Run it up to 70 or so and then just downshift and coast it down to 50 and repeat. Full throttle couple of shifts from 30-60, slow and repeat. Fun, and healthy, generate a lot of heat in the engine, tranny and turbos. Then baby it home for 10 miles or so, low rpm cool down, park and call it good.

Also, my sales manager friend and the dealer who is a huge aficionado said with the DCT " always sport mode, always manual shift. Keeps it fun.

Beginning to warm up to the DCT and shifting around 4k under load gives a real nice whomp and burp.... Love it.
