Arguably, if the DDE needs to be replaced, it is covered by the Fed Emissions Warranty until 8/80K miles.

How do I argue this and where could I find the reference material. I already contacted customer relations, but they probably dont know or care to handle the issue either. I attached my invoice for everyone's viewing.

The SES light is on because of zero adaptation fuel injector problem (whatever that means) per my research.

I now understand why Performance BMW Chapel Hill does not sell BMW OEM Gold or Platinum Extended Warranties, they try to sell you one of theirs that is triple the price.

The relavent text is on page 37 of the "2010 335 diesel service warranty booklet" - in your owner's packet, or downloadable from bmwusa.com I believe. I've got a pdf copy, if you need me to email it to you pm me.

Okay, this is beginning to become frustrating. I informed the dealer about the DDE issue and the information I found online about the recurring pattern of injector faults and the DDE issue. They told me that BMW NA wants them to replace the cylinder head. I don't know much about diesels, but for a car with 30k miles on it, replacing the cylinder head seems like an awfully big repair. I would think that rough idle or some other indication of defective cylinder head would be noticeable, but it's not. Is this really necessary?

I only remember (from bimmerfest's diesel forum IIRC) one other case where bmwna replaced a head.

Perhaps BMW wants them to send the whole works back to Germany to be checked...

I probably won't even bother with an extended warranty. Read in a few places here on the forums that some dealers won't honor the extended warranty on emissions related issues. I would say majority of the issues on the d is emissions related.

what comes to mind is that gassers have somewhat the same issues now dont bang me on this a migos but I had a modded 02 MCS with you know WHO Flash LOL, anyway I drove the BIATCH for 128k and never had to do the crud in the intake is it because I drove the FALKER like a bat out of hell? well i ran into the guy I sold the car and he has put another 50k into the car mind you he took the flash OUT!! and put the OEM pully I beleive was at 15% and then he began to have problems, but, I know this guy ran the car like a bat out of hell also, but he took the essential parts i had put in and then he had to have his crud removed from the intakes. So Im LEANING to believe that those of us who have either JBD or RENNtech or whomever will MAYBE not have these issues. But, making a comparo with my past car with NOW 175k compared to my 30K DIESEL which has been in the shop for NOX EGR whatever the FALK else Ive been into its suffice to say MAYBE or MAYBE not will encounter the dreaded DDE Injector issues!!!

NC may not be part of it. IIRC it's a California emission warranty which some other states have adopted.

Where did you get 80k? I thought the warranty expires at 50k.

I have the 6year/100k gold extended warranty.

My mileage is 80k. But my issues are not covered by this wonderful warranty.

Warranties

The DDE and catalyst are covered until 8/80 by the federal emissions warranty. Note that that is ONLY the DDE and Catalyst.

The California warranty is 7/70, and covers basically all the pieces of the emissions system, including SCR, EGR, DPF, etc.

Guess it's good to be living in Cali and owning a 335d. However, what about the injector failures? Where does that come into the mix?
