Even so, unless you've got crazy electrical noise issues it should be fine. |

No way man!!! This idea is the effin' shit!!!
I too was wondering what the delear would think to a USB cord protruding from somewhere. I was going to hide it behind that pointless coin holder in the arm rest. Like I said. I'm all for coming down to you and having you help me out once I get chipped!

VERY NICE!! I am in Tampa area and I'm in Miami frequently. You think I could meet up with you sometime as I am kinda losing you on the install. I am super paranoid about f~ing up my car. I am happy to do this myself but might be nice to see. If not would you at least be able to help with the install if I have questions? Good Job as I too didn't feel like paying $350 for a Blue Tooth connection.

I'm quite comfortable with Bluetooth gadgets, and have Bluetooth on all my laptops, so if I were to do BT-Procede I'd just get one serial->Bluetooth dongle (for the ProCede) and use built-in bluetooth on the laptop side. I've also used bluetooth devices as pseudo-Serial devices before in both OS X and Windows and it's really not a big deal to set up. In theory it "just works", and I've never had to do any significant troubleshooting. (If I were selling a solution I had to support I might have a different opinion on the matter.) That nicely lops the price in half, before you start shopping around for cheaper serial adapters. Edit: Here's one for $80, but I wouldn't stake much on its reliability without testing it out first http://www.cooldrives.com/bluetooth-...-adapter-.html Sorry about the threadjack |

1 IOGear GBS301 (Bluetooth v1.1) , 1 AnyCOM 2.0 USB to Bluetooth, 1 XM Roady 12VDC-6VDC car adapter With this setup PROcede software *can* open the COM4 port, which apparently was the problem requiring Eugen to go with 2 Sena interfaces. Only potential problems I see are 1) the IOGear is Bluetooth v1.1 (no freq hopping) vs Sena's Bluetooth v1.2 (freq hopping) and 2) No switched power available in engine bay (required by newer cars). However, the setup should work fine. |
