Here's an update: I took the rear trim out on the passenger side (which actually is quite easy) and looked. No screw(s). The rears actually only require one screw to hold the sensors. The hole for the screw has no threads. The hole measured 6mm wide and is about 5mm deep. I test-fitted a 6mm bolt and it would have been perfect if it didn't have a washer permanently attached. But THEN...I remembered that I had the BMW Installation PDF which clearly shows a single "M6x12" self-tapping screw used to hold each sensor (front and rear). So...this evening I will run to Lowes/Home Depot and find them...for probably less than $2.

Found what we need at Home Depot. I bought 6mm x 12mm cap screws. They require a #5 Hex-drive bit. They fit perfectly and self-tap. Just don't over-tighten them. And, I bought (6)...just in case...for a whopping $3.
Here is the first sensor installed:

This morning I reinstalled the rear trim panel with the one sensor just to see what would happen. (The other three were delivered later today). And...it worked with just the one sensor. Before replacing the panel, I left the top down, armed the alarm, reached in and moved the panel and the alarm went off. So...I went ahead and reinstalled the panel. I wasn't sure if I would be able to connect just the one and have the alarm work properly. Well...when I got everything back in place, I closed the top, hit the lock button, held it to fold my mirrors and...the alarm sounded as soon as it was armed (after the clown nose blinked for 5 secs or so). "You've got to be kidding me?" I said to myself. "I'm going to have to take this thing apart until I get the other sensors in???" Thankfully, I found that if I hit the lock button once quickly, the car locks, the alarm chirps and the MIRRORS DON'T FOLD and the alarm doesn't go off. (The mirrors are set to 0 sec delay using the BMWhat app). But...if I fold the mirrors by either holding the lock button or hitting it twice, the alarm goes off as soon as it is armed. So, I know the alarm won't go off if my mirrors aren't folded. This is weird...but helpful...until I get the other sensors in place. I think it should work the opposite if I'm not mistaken: You hit the lock button twice to TURN OFF the motion and tilt sensors in the E93 in the normal operation of the alarm system.

My alarm won't be here until next week. Postal originally stays today I should receive the package, but it changes to next Monday when I check today.
And sensors should be here 2 weeks later. So, I should have them install in sometime late March. |

You should be able to install the basic alarm...hood switch and siren/module...yourself without any trouble as soon as you get it. That part is super easy. Then, if you want someone else to tackle the door panel/rear trim sensors, you can do that anytime. I've had my door panels off so many times, I could do it in my sleep, but...the first time is a bit scary, I have to admit.

Put in the other three sensors. Alarm system works perfectly! Required no coding at all. And...installing the other three sensors cleared up the other matter I was having: Alarm system going off when the mirrors folded. I was probably disarming the alarm at the same time I was unfolding the mirrors to prevent the false alarm. Now the mirrors fold, alarm stays armed and does not go off with a single push of the lock button...just like it is supposed to. BUT...those cap screws/bolts I bought (and pictured above) DO NOT WORK with the front door sensor mounts. I ended up using some short wood screws that I had laying around from disassembling my old sub box.

Nice job. Thanks.
On the installation manual, it indicate that screw is a self tapping. Must be some type of plastic screw. I never remove the interior trim on my car, so it will be challenging. And there are a lot of help on this forum and youtube. I should be ok. |

WOW it's cool to see that my original thread has made its way and you guys are using the info provided by everyone here!!
When I got my sensors I don't remember if they came with screws or if I actually used any screws. But one thing for sure they hold quite well even without the screws!

And you're right...sensors barely need screws to stay in place. In fact, getting the first sensor in place took a little time...the holder didn't seem big enough to take the sensor. But...the wood screws worked great. (I think it was a #10 x 1/2" wood screw). It's tight but works.

I finally have a chance to code the car with the alarm.
I have a question, the clown nose flash rapidly when I lock the car. According to the installation document, it was coded with older version of program or coded incorrectly. I add +K302 and remove $5GA to VO, code VO to CAS and NFRM, and code default to KOBI, NFRM, CAS, FZD and CANS, I don't seem able to find JBBF module.. it is named differently? The alarm seems to function (have not fully tested it yet). I tested the hood switch and it works. And beep on lock and unlock. I want make sure it works before I put in the interior sensors. Thanks in advance. |

I find the module ... 2JBBF. I also code it to default. Still flashing rapidly for about 10 to 15 seconds when lock and then normal flash every 3 seconds.

All motion sensors installed. The clown nose is no longer rapid blinking when arm.
On one note, both 65756950525 and 65776989713 are interchangeable, I have both type of sensors (3 x 65776989713 installed on both front door, and right rear seat, and 1 x 65756950525 installed on left rear seat). It is because the seller send me both. I have asked for return, but he told me it should work. And he is right. It works. Now I can leave to top down for a quick stop. And thanks for everyone contribute to this, so I can make it works. Last edited by josehon; 04-04-2015 at 04:01 PM.. |

If a sensor failed, you will have that issue. I installed 2 of the sensors on the first day, when I fold the mirrors, the alarm goes off. Once I have the other 2 sensors installed next day, the problem is gone.
When you arm the car, do you see your clown nose blink very fast for the first 10-15 seconds? If it is, that mean you have a faulty sensor. I have the clown nose blink rapidly for the first 10-15 seconds when only 2 sensors are installed. |

Well yes, it blinks fast for about 10 secs! I thought it gives you time before arming itself, so if you forgot something in your car you can grab it if roof is open
Silly idea So! if one of them is broken, how do i know wich one? I need to put my hand in step by step in each seat and see if alarm will go off?

Just wanted to post and say thanks to everyone in this thread (as well as the others) for the information specific to the E93. My '09 M3 did not come with the alarm (nor did either of our '07 335i) and so I was familiar with most of the process, but removal of the door panels and installing the motion sensors was new to me. It doesn't seem as scary after having done it once. It should be noted that the alarm kit is NLA - but all parts are still available separately, and they were ordered for me as such.
The process went smoothly (aside from damage to a few door clips - I strongly urge everyone to grab some spares prior to beginning). Coding took a little more digging, but everything is working as expected. The alarm started out with the euro siren style beep, no hood switch functionality, and no panic alarm. Changing the VO and checking a few specific settings got everything working as expected. I'll breathe a little easier taking the car out and about knowing I could leave the top down and have things more protected. |
