I'm not here to defend VRSF but I'm here to defend downpipe installations in general and a large majority that I've dealt with from different brands required some "tweaking" of the exhaust to fit correct.

That being said the tolerance on the Xi are that much tighter. That's all I'm saying on the subject.

Were these used? Also IIRC the newer versions came out because of some fitment issues.

edit: I had to go back and check timeline. I don't think there were ever 2 versions sold to the public, maybe you got a set of the early prototypes used? I remember because I was hoping to get a set before winter set in here, and they kept being delayed for revising prototypes for final production. But some folks got early versions and were testing them, maybe you got a set of those.

No affiliation.

It's sad to see somebody blast a company with such great customer service every other day. Read the other posts Op before you put a company on blast. You haven't replied back saying you've made contact with Vrsf regarding this issue. I would recommend selling your n54 unless you have a personal issue with Tiago. Small companies thrive off word of mouth, and it's people like you who ruin that for them. Now I'm 99% sure Tiago would have been willing to support you till you got it done. And I'm 99% sure your install problems would have been the same with which ever brand of Dps you would have bought. Moderators I hope you delete this thread. VRSF has more complaints simply because they own a large market in the n54 community. With a large market obviously comes more posts etc. I have nothing but good words for VRSF. fitment and their customer support. /rant

Tiago is great it was nearly 1 am when I posted this out of shear frustration. Tiago did release a version 2.0 it's in the main xi downpipe thread review.

I did get them to work. It took modification this could have been a poor batch. I couldn't remain down for a week to rectify and issue.

Lets let this thread die and my rant to remain. I would close the thread but it's to late. I let emotion trump reason. Unfortunately, you cannot deny that the fitment was marginal at best.

Could you please provide a link to this thread? I was not aware there was a Version 2.0 on Xi DP's, after the mid Dec 2012 intro. Yes I have searched and cannot find anything.

I had the same issue... took 4 hours, 1 hour for the first DP and 3 for the second , but it ended up fitting the 02 sensors are close but it worked.
I think the reason for the headaches is the flange on the turbo end and down pipe begining, i fiddled with this for a few hours and thought no were hell is this thing going to fit its really off, But slid the clamp of the trubo and downpipe back and forth and flipped it and bada bing . white smoke party.
i hope you can get it to fit man,
Goodluck

My vrsf xi downpipes fit really well with zero interference anywhere other than the rear bank o2 sensor touching the other pipe, which is probably my fault anyhow. The pipes look great and sound great.

I must say it most definitely takes some wrestling and finessing, speaking about the process as a whole. More than anything else it takes patience and perseverance, especially if you do yours on jack stands like me. Working on your back is far from ideal and can drive you to pure frustration quickly.

It took me far longer to install than I'd like to admit, but it's done. Rusted bolts and a seized v-band clamp drove me nuts, but once I manned up to dropping the subframe (which is really easy as I came to realize) the install was SO much easier.

Unfortunately I haven't had a chance to reply to this due to being on a short holiday, but most of the guys on here explained the predicament pretty well.

Just to clear things up, the V2 is only regarding the RWD pipes, not the XI pipes. There has been no reason to revise the XI pipes since we've never had a fitment issue that hasn't been directly related to install error (confirmed by both installing on local test cars and our jig). I can explain the exact reason one may see a "VRSF DP Fitment" thread pop up once a week. We have a little over a thousand 335i/xi DP's out in the market right now and I can guarantee we are the most popular downpipe sold right now on this platform. Combine that fact with budget conscious price point and you're going to find that we attract a lot of DIY installers rather than individuals who are willing to pay an experienced professional.

I'm actually going to quote you an exact e-mail I just received from a customer who installed the same DP's from the same batch as the one Kevo received.

Quote:
Hi Tiago,

I received the order and have everything installed. Just want to let you know that your products are awesome and the fit was perfect for both the FMIC and DPs for my 335 xi . No boost leaks and no exhaust leaks.

I installed the FMIC on my own on jack stands and car ramps. It took me almost 9 hours doing it solo. I had to cut off the passenger side clamp with a dremel and removed the lower charge pipe from pulling and twisting it out from the bottom. That pipe is such a PITA is get out.

I had made an attempt on the DPs but bailed out after when I couldn't get wrenches to remove the front O2 sensors. I went to a shop and had a buddy of mine with his 2 mechanics drop the subframe by removing 6 subframe bolts and 6 motormount bolts. The subframe just hangs by the suspension with the bolts removed. They supported the engine with a jack. That gave enough room to remove the OEM dps. They couldn't unscrew the front O2 sensors neither but with the subframe dropped, they were able to leave them on and just pull out the OEM dps.

Overall, no rattles whatsoever. The front mount intercooler fits like a glove with no air gaps against the radiator shroud. Car pulls much harder now that it is Cobb tuned. I can hear the turbos spooling and I just did the golf tee mod.

I'll definitely recommend your products to my friends

Thank you very much for your excellent customer service and developing quality mods for BMW owners.
