Well... In the beginning, I dun have any hope that BMW Canada will do anything too but after seeing Porsche dropped their MSRP, sooner or later BMW will do something, maybe though in some more option for free, very low interest rate or more discount...etc. So I am going to hang on with my E46 until they going to do something.
Your analogy of a depreciating vehicle (that further plummets due to a never before seen drop of over 10K in one year) compared with what is, for most people, an appreciating asset (or one would hope) is not valid. Furthermore, markets (housing and stock) are influenced by factors not easily predicted or controlled.

So I still have a right to be angry lol.

Wouldn't we lose out big time in black book values come sell time in a few years? What protection is there for us already car owners? I for one am hoping they remain steady on car prices now that I have sunk 70 K on my car!
That will NEVER happen. The only reason why Porsche did that huge price cut in Canada is for them its a numbers game, they have high profit margins and a small client base. If anything, BMW should raise prices in the USA to fend off the strong Canadian dollar... but that will only piss off the US customers. Their solution is to add more standard options, as they just did on 2008's with the bluetooth package.

Watch for interest rates in October, should be interesting.

Nor do I for that matter. There are too many of the damn things on the road as it is!
Porsche is doing it.

Porsche is also considerably more expensive.
The price gap between its Canadian and U.S. versions is astronomical, like $25K for a 911.

Actually you get bluetooth but they removed Logic7, BT was 1100$ last year and L7 1200$, but premium package has gone down a few hundreds so it's a draw give or take 100$.
The only thing we get for free this yer is the USB audio that is bundled with Logic7 which is still a 1200$ option.
They should realy get these ridiculous PDI fees down, I'm paying 1995$ more than double what they pay in US.

The point is it's a game of chicken with consumers.
BMW sells a lot more cars than Porsche and can afford to wait things out, or at least until it notices a significant drop in demand.
It even said as much yesterday when it announced plans to counteract the weakening U.S. dollar through "efficiencies" at its plants, not by dropping prices.

Another big Q is: Are we Canadians that much richer to be able to afford the same car as our US counterparts? I often muse about what % of cars sold in Canada are luxury compared with the US...if we are shelling out the equivalent of 15-25 % more for the same car does that mean our income is that much higher? Stats show incomes to be higher in the US especially for professionals like myself...Very interesting indeed.

The U.S. is a very wealthy country. Canada is not.

You also have to remember that the U.S. has 10x the population than Canada does and therefore much more high income earners (mainly a function of their economic dominance over the last 50 years).
