in my current life stage: i have my house, cars, cash, and gear. i don't like going out and i usually order delivery food, so couldn't spend much around here even if i wanted to.

but when i'm in europe, it's on! i estimate i'll spend about as much over a month in europe as i typically spend around here in a year.

Been to Atlantis. Didn't think it's all that great.

Before that:
Kauai (favorite tropical desintation) - got married there
Maui
Turks & Caicos (best quick getaway destination for east coasters)
Isla Mujeres - Mexico
Cabo San Lucas (worst destination I've ever been to)

Rome is nice but I would spend three days there to see the major sites then move on to other parts of the country. I thought northern Italy was beautiful, particularly Sirmione and Siena. Plus, you can visit Lamborghini and take a factory tour which was a highlight of my previous trip. I also hit Ferrari and Ducati. I would skip Ferrari unless you own one and can thus take the factory tour, otherwise you could just hit a dealership for a similar experience. Ducati was cool but a motorcycle is so small that you don't get terribly much out of the tour. Venice is gorgeous but loaded with tourists. Milan is a total skip.

Next summer we will hit southern Italy and Sicily.

Atlantis as a whole is not all that but if you stay at the cove and hang out at the cabanas and the adult pool its a whole different story.

Currently in my summer house in Europe on a 2 month vacation. Pretty much with family in Switzerland or family in Eastern Europe.

I'm sure they have online registries of with names/addresses that can be corroborated by your driver's license, or something.

I don't know (I don't know a single person who owns a Ferrari), but it seems reasonable enough to me.

You have to arrange the trip through your dealership.

Was in Oahu two weeks ago and stayed at the hilton hawaiin village, ali'i tower. did all the touristy things like Pearl Harbor, hanauma bay, dishbowl, went to go see the kings palace and of course a luau. Not a bad place to go, but a bit pricy considering its just Hawaii. Planning on a euro trip next summer

This is Hawaii: doing it wrong. Maybe spend 2 days doing touristy things, but that's not real Hawaii. You need to get out and explore. This is why a lot of people are "meh" about their trip to Hawaii.

I take 2-3 per year. I work hard to be able to take nice vacations.

I agree with this completely. I got married on Kauai on the beach at Hanalei Bay (no guests, just us), and it was heaven on earth. We spent the week on Kauai before going to Maui for another week. My wife actually cried on the drive from the airport to the Four Seasons because we had left a lush paradise to end up on Maui which is (relatively speaking) loaded with strip malls and commercial activity. I will say that the sunrise at Haleakala was a huge highlight of that trip. I don't know why but it was a very moving experience.

Same here. There's a huge world out there and I want to see as much of it as I can.

I agree completely, however, we couldn't go to the less crowded islands or do some hike trails...had a 6 year old with us that gets bored easily. We wanted to keep busy and do activities. However I did manage to getaway from the wife and kid and do some ATV riding in Kualoa while they did the tours. Highlight of the vacation was food! went to the local spots like alicia's and ono's as well as foodland...and some meh spots like, hanajuban, nakamura, tropics, rainbow. for midnight snacks, they had an abc store in the property so I scooped up some musubis. Not bad for being a convenient store food.

I agree about doing all the touristry stuff. I mean it's nice to be able to but that shouldn't be the only thing. But of course a vacation means different things to different people. Some just want to spend the days relaxing at a resort while others want to go out and explore all the nooks. I think the best way is a balance between the two.
