Gary, thanks for the information. I plan to purchase the A/S3s for an unmounted set of the staggered 18" Style 189 wheels that I have. I don't need the tires until October/November, but am anxious to get them and get rid of the 16" stock wheels and tires. Would you go ahead with the 235s or wait for the 225s? Will the slightly wider tire have different handling characteristics in light snow (I live in St. Louis, so the tires will see some snow). Thanks.

235/40R18 is only about a 1/3rd of an inch taller and 1/3rd of an inch wider...not enough of a size change to make any noticeable difference in snow traction, handling, etc.

That's an hour + of driving... what's your initial impression?

Less noise then the half worn runflats. (of course)

Got my tag done so drove it for 20 miles or so today. Friend drove it on the way to the range and me on the way back.

The A/S 3s seem very nice thru the turns. Did a launch control run and it spun for about 2 seconds before hooking up. No spin into 2nd at all.

They seem very smooth. No rain driving yet.

Maybe I'm loosing my mind, but I seem to be getting excessive road noise on different roads. On I285 today near the airport in Atlanta, my new A/S 3s were rumbling. I drive this road 4 days a week to work. Is there anything w the car that could cause this?

Edit: was doing some searching and maybe I have a wheel bearing going bad. My 11 335is has 48k miles.

That's so interesting. I just had a full set of A/S 3's installed on my car with brand new rims and the noise is insane! I'm taking my car into my suspension guys for an alignment and to verify the wheel bearings because the it is WAY WAY noiser. I had PSS on before but different rim. The new rims are wider and so are the tires so may be more stress causing more noise...

Will report back on Wednesday after I get checked out!

I'm taking mine in Monday to dealer to have wheel bearings checked. I'll update then.

Fortunately, you can use size 235/40R18 up front in its place.

Tires http://www.tirerack.com/a.jsp?a=AH8&...ires/index.jsp
I received a special offer by email from tirerack this past weekend for the Michelin PS AS 3s 225/40/18. I was about to order the 235s for the front b/c the word is 225s won't be available till Oct/Nov. Called tirerack and the rep said they will be in whse stock in another week. Called Michelin and the rep said they are on backorder, but should be available in Sept.

Can anyone else confirm this?

That would be awesome to know. I had my car checked out and my suspension guys said nothing wrong with my wheel bearings. The noise would be the tires....

Just heard back from Dealer, nothing wrong with wheel bearings.

Wont have car back till tomorrow at the earliest. Depending on what local discount tire thinks/says. Not sure if I want to try another set of A/S 3 or just go with PSS.

FYR... Michelin has a 30-Day Satisfaction Guarantee. If you're not 100% satisfied with tires, bring back to retailer w/receipt and Michelin will exchange them for a new set of equal or lesser value.

I went from PSS to A/S 3. The PSS is quieter. The issue I have is I need all seasons as the weather here gets too cold too fast. I had DWS and they were really good. I may have to go back to that...

How long did each set of those tires last you? I'm assuming you have a staggered setup?

I just bought the AS 3s. 225/40/18 & 255/35/18. I knew I needed tires, but driving home from my brother's house this past Sunday in PA on Rt. 80 to NY I get a Tyre Failure indicator... CC ID 63. Took it slow and got home no problem. Checked the tire the next day... sidewalls are hard, but the top part is mush. Completely flat! Car has been sitting this week, getting tires installed Sat.

I'm going from the Potenza RF to the AS 3. Getting an additional set of winter tires/wheels is just not in the budget that's why I am trying to get best AS tire possible.

I am also looking at picking up a new set of tires. The PSS look simply amazing, but here in virginia we get a tiny bit of snow but its still cold enough to TRY and stay away from an exclusive summer tire on my daily driver. These A/S 3 "Out of the gate" reviews are not looking the best :/ seems to be the noise?

I will wait on buying them and hope I pass my inspection at the end of sept. this will give all you others a chance to buy and try the A/S 3 and LOVE them and write great reviews so I wont hesitate to pick some up myself

Just got mine installed a few days ago. Only about 100 miles but they seem real smooth so far. I usually have music playing but I havnt noticed any excessive road noise from them... I got the 235s in the front and there is no issues with the fit at all!

I'm running staggered setups and the tires last. DWS were still great after a year. I sold them and they still had 80-85% life. The Michelin A/S Plus rear (275/30/19) actually cupped so uneven wear. The A/S 3 are brand new so 1 week so far only. The tires are still noisy. I may write into Michelin to see if the tires are just a bad batch maybe?

On the flip side, I took her out tonight and the performance is outstanding!

Thanks for the reply! Yeah the A/S Plus model is notorious for cupping. Same thing happened to the set on my bros G35x. Even with that, they've still been a pretty good tire, all the way down to the wear bars.

Still interested in trying the 3's though.
