Tune it! I've seen high boost cars with mileage above 150k with no more problems than normal. An engine will make it as far as you take it. If you absolutely hate it, which you won't, you can always go back.

Agreed with the dude who commented and who's name I don't know. It's just the engine. It's a bull to begin with just get it checked and replace the minor things. Plus once you get a taste of that mod you'll always feel like your cars slow.

if you are unsure if you should use the JB4 go with the JB+ tuner, its a plug and play. After having it on for a while you will see if your car can handle the extra power, IMO.

I wouldn't JB4 at 100k unless you have had earlier than recommended blinker fluid changes.

I think its different with every 335...I hear a lot of horror stories but then again I hear a lot of guys having no problem. It's a gamble in the end.

When people say to me, 'Is 100k too late?' I say, 'I don't know.' I don't know whether it will be a bump in the road -- that's the most optimistic assessment of it, that it's a fairly serious bump in the road -- or whether this will, in fact, trigger a major engine meltdown with absolutely devastating consequences... We must coldly, calculatingly divide up the next several hundred miles to determine what we can do, what we can't do, do what we can, and then provide for contingency plans for when things go horribly wrong.

I have to agree it was useless. But it made me laugh too.

Should be fine, do a thorough check of all maintenance required, as well for anything needed to be installed, before pushing the car for a spirited drive. Good luck, and have fun.

1) Are you the original owner or CPO owner of the car for a while already and are just now considering modding? 2) Did you just buy this car used like less than a year ago and are just now considering modding it? 3) Do you know your car's maintenance history? 4) Is your car currently reliable or is it frequently having issues? 5) Do you have any good Indy mechanics in your area which can look over your car to let you know how the car is doing? 6) What are your goals in modding the car? 7) How long do you plan to keep the car? 8) Do you have a budget for modding, what is it? 9) Are you still making payments on the car or is it a clean title and you own it already (No car note to the bank/lien hold)? 10) Approximately when is your next vehicle registration inspection due (Greater than a year from now OR less than a year from now)? 11) Do you know what services your car will need to have done over the next year based on your estimated mileage driven in the next year? Have you set aside money for those basic service maintenance items? Answer the questions above and the answer to your question about modding will be self evident. Quick answer: Buy a used JB4+DCI+USB cable on the forums (G4 board should be a good bargain... but spend a little more for a used G5 board if you can find one at a good used price). I wouldn't do the DP's because your next bottle neck that needs to be addressed is the Oil Catch Can + FMIC. After that you should consider the condition of your spark plugs and coils (unless they were recently addressed). Finally I would do the Down Pipe and if needed a DP Fix. Pick up used parts on the forums to get a better value on these parts (new is over rated if your not in a rush). |

A) Not sure if you have read up on the "Mike Miller Old School service schedule" search for it online... its a great read to learn about our cars. B) The N54 twin turbo's (2 physical turbo's not the single turbo N55) are pretty much bullet proof motors. I would strongly recommend picking up some deals on used parts for a JB4+DCI+USB cable and have a lot of fun with your car. C) I would also say your second upgrade should be doing an Oil Catch Can and an aftermarket Front Mount Intercooler upgrade (plenty of used ones to pick up). D) If your going to upgrade the downpipe, you really need to consider if you want to go catless or with cat's. If you got catless you will need to get a down pipe fix which will help for getting back all your timing and also for reaching "readiness" on your emissions... I would like to steer you towards the catted DP's which cost more but don't hurt the environment for a daily driver. Performance difference isn't much in the grand picture. E) It's never to late to mod these cars and the car really comes alive when you do mod it. Happy motoring ** I would like to suggest to fully pay off the car before investing in mods, because interest payments are a waste of modding money. |

Go for it and just have a little extra in your savings. Expect to find little things (like your low pressure fuel pump can't deliver at full boost), and things listed above like pugs and coils.

New electronics vs used electronics... while software and technology do get old/improved, you can't just discard old tech. I personally love using windows XP Pro because it just works like a solid OS and I'm very familiar with it. Just like the JB3 and the JB4 G4 boards were solid tunes that are still going strong today. For the OP's power goals... the used parts can be had for less than 50% off of the new parts rate. A little spit and polish on the older gear will have them shining like a new penny! Value, Value, Value... that's the name of the game. I also hope that OP will start saving money for a maintenance budget as well from his former car payment budget (once the car is paid off). If you keep setting aside this money while you don't have car payments... then when you are ready to sell that car for another CPO deal, you will hopefully get the next car all paid in CASH up front. It's a great feeling when you don't need to borrow money from banks/lenders/BMW NA Financing. You just walk into a dealership and say, I have cash and the sales person will have to bend to your whim because he needs you more than you need him (He can only sell the cars on his lot... while you can take your cash and go to any lot in the world to buy your dream car). As He-Man once said "...I Have The Power!" |

You have to replace your flux capacitor first... Otherwise your car won't start after you install the tune.
Trust me

Everything I see threads like this it's like there treating the car as a person as in I'm 70 years old can I play football.? No... I have 95 k and I drive it daily also fbo. Beat on it everyday as it should be driven. My car never had any major problems. If u let the car sit it's worse then driving it like it should be driven
