As far as I know approval guidelines are different for import cars than for cars that are brought to EU as "removal goods". The latter are typically a bit easier to get through the customs, but I have so far not found out yet whether this also applies to the headlight washers.

Our friend who brought the car to Luxembourg should know...

There is no difference in the customs process itself. Both cases require the sames steps to be followed. However in case you are not bringning the car as a result of relocation, you have to pay import taxes and VAT. It becomes not viable financially for our Ds. Better buy the EU version of the car.

To qualify for the tax exemption, car must have been registered in the name of the importer at least 6 months prior, import documents must note the shipment as part of your move goods (does not need to be the same shipment) and you cannot sell the car in the first 12 months after registration.

In Luxembourg you can drive with original US plates for up to 6 months. Just get a local insurance card tied to the VIN#

Damn the REAR fog light disasembly is to DIFFICULT. I just pulled the lower dark tab under the front fog switch with two flathead screwdrivers then i cut off the the 4 prongs and inserted the male white end to the tab and VIOLA it worked time lapsed 15 minutes!!
