I cleared all the drains out a few weeks ago, not long after I bought the car, but admittedly they could have been clogged for a while.
All the covers / seals seemed in good condition. Im just wondering if its possible the heating/cooling of the engine and in turn the ebox could cause warm moist air to be sucked in which is then condensing on the metal ECU box? I work right on the coast and it can be particularly wet! Either way, I need to take it for a spin but its certainly something for all E90 owners to bare in mind. Its only a 10min job to whip the skuttle off and take a peak inside the ebox to ensure its not looking like a swimming pool! |

And the Saga continues!
its rained all weekend. No issues all weekend. did plan on spending some time figuring out how water was getting into the ebox yesterday, but wife had other ideas. Get in this morning and the ECA is swimming again. I think this time the water has got inside the ECU as the severity of cornering required to cause the malfunction is very slight! tried getting a hair drier on it but its pissing down and probably did more harm than good this morning. Anyone want to buy a E90 320i with 66k on the clock?? just had a new timing chain and service? |
