Gas tank is 16.1 gallons. 40% is 6.44 gallons of E85 then fill the tank.

With 5 gallons of E85 you would need 12.5 gallons of 93 octane. I am now math wiz but I think my numbers are close. It is hard to say how many gallons are in your car if the gas gauge reads 1/2 tank. I doubt its truly half but if it is then it would be around 8 gallons of 93 in your tank. You would need 3.2 gallons of E85 to get you to E40. Get a second opinion on my numbers first before you run the new maps. Good luck.

Here's my math on it: Since E85 is about 70-75% Ethanol content (erroring to the "safe" side per Shiv) and our 93 Octane is about 10%.... 50% of the tank (8 gallons) at 70% content plus 50% of the tank (8 gallons) at 10% content would yeild 6.4 gallons of total ethonol to 9.6 gallons of gas (and non-ethanol). 6.4 eth/16 total= 40% thus, E-40

so 50/50 makes it very easy at most stages of our gauge. 1/4 of tank means there's 12 gallons to input... thus 6 +6. 1/2 tank means 8 gallons total (4 + 4). since there are 20 hash marks on the 16 gallon guage,,, each hash seems to be about .8 gallons in case you're not on one of the 1/4 increments when you pull up to the pump... then adjust accordingly. Any content above the 70% in the E-85 is a safety bonus at that point.

I filled up this morning and since regular 87 Octane dropped to 3.13/gal, the E-85 dropped to 2.99/gal. Sweet!
(edit- I inadvertantly put that 93 oct was 3.13/gal..... I wish!)

How are you sure without an ethanol sensor? Seems a little dangerous to be guessing.

E85 is minimum 70% ethanol. You can't really guess. I have measured from two different local stations and one was 70% the other 85%.

Use this calculator to get an accurate blend but you still need to know the ethanol content of both the E85 and 93 octane to get it exact.

I'm more inclined to an inline booster pump and 100% e85. No guess work.

I know! I need to get the Walbro pump installed ASAP. My LPFP isn't doing so great with E45.

I tuned a local car and the owner went with the 255 inline due to cost and it's working out well. I just upgraded him to an aggressive back end flash so he should be making @ 480 whp and he hasn't had any fueling issues post shifts...

E85 is not 100% E content, your math is off based on that. For a full tank assuming the E85 is 85% E, should test it to see. Then you would actually want 9.7GalE10 and 6.4GalE85 for a perfect E40 mixture. Hope this helps, if anyone is looking for a tester I use this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ethanol-test...20da40&vxp=mtr

and it's been on so far.

Duh. It's called E85 (85%) ethanol. I'm an idiot. Thanks for the clarification.

Hiw exact does this really need to be? I had exactly 1/2 tank of 91 and topped it off with e85. Sounded good to me....

Like wedge said tho. Lpfp and fill up with e85. That math is easy!

Exactly as long as you don't get it wrong in the wrong direction you should be fine. I am planing on tuning for E70 and running straight E85 then you should never not have enough ethanol and it can adjust for the other 15% itself.

I guess this does not help those wanting to run the E40 map though

Shiv: Why E30 or E40 instead of a tune specifically for 50/50 mix of premium and E85? It is easier to mix.

Also, any plans for a stage 3 Premium or something dedicated to FBO cars? I am running the procede but for some reason the fuel flash with procede is not running right. I sent several e-mails asking for help with this.

The stock LPFP has a tough time keeping up with high blends of E85 depending on the health of your pump. E30-40 has found to be good in most cases.

Hello Bads335,
The 50/50 mix is E40 and that's using the conservative approach that all E-85 is only 70% Ethanol. This way you always error to the safe side.
see the math in my post above.

Gotcha. Makes sense. In a perfect would it would be E47.5 but since E85 is typically not so rich in ethanol, we would see closer to E40 on a 50/50 mix and anything richer (in ethanol) would be a bonus for octane, but we cannot take advantage cause cannot add timing or boost on the fly without flexfuel.

Any updates on when the OTS E40 maps and stage 2 pump maps are going to be released?
