Im starting to think I got a defective can after seeing that audi and how smooth it looks in those pics

fwiw, i used standard trim paint on my grilles.

it held up fine for a few months - no rock chips at all.

but last weekend I was going to cover them in blue painters tape to save them from rock chips on my way down to EuroFest at the BMW plant, but the tape removed every single spec of paint along the outter ring.

But since I sanded the chrome before painting them, at least now my kidney grilles match my aluma-matte window trim.

same thing happened to my grills! as soon as i took tape off of em, a whole chunk of paint came off. i redid them though so they're back to normal now

haha thats great.

IME as long as you dont tape them up, the paint sticks fine lol.
