Going to take the wheel spacers off this week and see if it's still doing the same.

Doing my bloody head in, they had it on the MOT ramp [ with the twisty plates] and found nothing wrong!

I have a wobble through the drivers seat which can't be found. (Nothing worn etc)

You say yours feels further back, I think mine is further forward around the gearbox/prop shaft so probably different. If I'm accelerating hard then it's ok, as soon as I ease back, vibration.

Going to get the prop guibo etc checked at some point

Yeh it is bugging me, maybe get them to look at the prop shaft as I am running out of ideas.

Changed tyres to Dunlop SP Maxx and had the whole back end checked over, they found nothing wrong!!! Just bought a set of Koni shocks and springs and will see what happens. Mechanic thought it felt like it was more towards the front.

A mate just had a go in mine and felt it , he thinks it could well be the prop shaft. Are they weighted ? [ that's what he asked]

Weighted as in balanced by the addition of tiny weights? If so then yes they are on our cars.

There are two components on the prop that could wear out on our cars. Firstly it is the guibo as mentioned m20b25 mentioned which is on the gearbox side or it could be bearing that holds the centre of the prop to the underneath of the car.

I had a bad wobble above 60 which was due to the driveshaft bolts being not being tight. In fact I actually had one come out completely and I could feel vibrations at sub 40mph speeds as well. Worst thing is that they were torqued to spec when I fitted the car back together. I locktited them all in and all has been fine since.

Yep, as idnan says, they are balanced with weights. Sounds like this could be it then. A bolt falling out it a bit concerning!

Just hit 84k, been doing this for 2 maybe 3000 miles.

Still trying to track it down, its going in Monday for new springs, alignment and control arm bushes. hopefully I maybe closer to solving it then. Will update the thread on Monday.

Still having the same problem and a lad at work followed me into work today and said that when booting it off of a roundabout, the rear drivers wheel looks like it wobbles.

What to try next though!

Spotted this on the net but, unsure if relevant?

I've heard of higher mileage BMWs getting vibration through the seats from the prop shaft.
Something about wear in a rubber bush where the prop shaft joins the gearbox.
You might as well get the rear wheels balanced though, seeing as that's a cheap option and it will rule out one more thing".

I'd be thinking bent/unbalanced wheel or something on the hub flange not allowing the wheel to be seated correctly.

You've mentioned the prop guibo, it's common in BMWs old and new for failing after a fair few miles. Its a pretty easy check if you remove a few bolts and bend the heatshield back.

Morning mate, I am replacing the alloys on Saturday so should be able to rule that one out. Will have to look up how to check the guibo or get a mechanic to check it for me.

It seems to only do it at high load or when above 70mph.

Any other bushes you think maybe at fault?

I saw a video recently (think it was a Chris Harris one) with an m3 and as he hit the apex the rear wheel moved a lot! It was in slow motion and the camera was pointing at the wheel. I'm guessing this was due to bush flex, but if yours is visible I everyday driving then you could hae a knackered bush?

The gearbox guibo could cause a vibration. I will be getting mine swapped at some point along with the bearing as I have a rumble. But only sometimes. Which is why I haven bothered yet.

My vibration problem improved dramatically when I got the rear wheels balanced the second time around. Still not perfect but hopefully will be when I have new tyres.

It's annoying trying to track it down. What does the guibo bit cost to get replaced roughly, did you find out?
