At this point I think I will order the filters online and don't need the brake flush, so all I know I need is the rear brakes.

What about the automatic transmission fluid and the engine coolant? BMW says the transmission fluid is every 100K and the engine coolant is lifetime, but the recommended maintenance I got from an indy shows to change both around 60,000.

I think they say lifetime coolant because they know your water pump will fail long before the coolant loses its properties!

I've read elsewhere four years on coolant.

Have you confirmed that there is no limit on this coupon? I have yet to get a hold of anyone at West, but know that Momentum will match the coupon.

Also, I'm not sure if you read my earlier post, but the brakes are now under the value package, so you can't get the discount on that. But you will be able to get half off the rotors.

A "Scope" is nothing more than plugging their system into the OBD-II port and reading any stored codes. It takes less than 5 minutes to do, besides, they're already going to plug their system in to reset the service interval for the brakes once the pads are replaced. I'd question that one or see if they'd do it for free since you're already having work done. Also, they should be able to tell if you need new rotors prior to doing any brake work by simply checking the thickness with a micrometer. But if it were me, I always replace rotors when I replace pads. The two things I never go cheap on are tires and brakes.

That's what the guy said, but I figured for $40, it's not that big of a deal. I was going to give my SA a $20 Starbucks card (mostly to take the loaner of out of town for the weekend), so he may oblige.

Replacing the transmission fluid at a dealership is very expensive (around $800). Not only is the fluid expensive, you typically have to replace the pan since it includes an integrated filter element. I've even read that some dealerships refuse to do it on higher mileage cars unless there are already issues with the transmission. New fluid in a worn transmission can cause slippage issues which weren't present with the old fluid although that's probably rare.

We put 5k on our loaner in 3 weeks lol the SA was like I know we said unlimited miles but damn.

I had extra money to spend, so decided to get the spark plugs done as well. It's never been done, but the SA said it's not really necessary. Where did the 45K figure come from above? Is that on certain cars. I figured I'd get it over with at half off.

45k is the plug interval for the 335i; the non-turbo cars have a 100,000 mile replacement interval. My E46 328i was running strongly on the original plugs when I traded it at 97,000 miles, and my E91 328i now has 60k on the OEM plugs with no issues.

Thanks. So I was good for at least another 3-4 years. Oh well, I'd rather them replace the plugs than spend the money to have them replace the filter. We just couldn't figure out what other service to do, and the service manager wouldn't let me take some items back to return.

Edit to my original post, the SA said it was NOT necessary!
