To get your number put onto a retention certificate, you must send the form (with the fee) to the DVLA at Swansea.

However, in the past if you wanted to transfer the number from the retention cert to the required vehicle, you could do this by signing the retention and enclosing a photocopy of the tax disc, together with the V5 to your nearest local DVLA office.

I don't think that this can be done at the local DVLA office anymore, as they (have) will be closing down. All transfers are now through DVLA Swansea as far as I know.

The retention certificate will come separately.

The MOT should have come back with the V5 you have received. Give DVLA a call just to double check.

Any update on this ?

I have taken the plate off my car - DVLA have sent the 'new' V5 and retention certificate but not the 'new' MOT or 'new' tax disc.

As the OP had the same I guess they are coming separately ?

The v5 came first then a few days later the retention and then a few days after that the tax and MOT so yours should all come soon!
