Hey Shiv,

Will the new 3 touch programming allow me to update from my current Stg 1 map to the newer maps without having to do anything on my laptop?

Downloaded Stg0, Stg1, and E40beta into my OFT. Just waiting on supporting parts to arrive in the mail before I flash ze auto.

Should I avoid Stg1 until I've got DP's and an FMIC or would I be alright just running on DCI's and the VRSF CP with 91?

Shiv,
Can you add ambient pressure in the next parameter update? Would like to have it to figure boost set point.

How hard is it for the user to create a decent lower boost map than the OFS stage 0? I'd like something stronger than stock but with less than 18psi peak boost.

Yes, that shouldn't be a problem.

It's easy. Just lower the values in the load target tables. Lower value = lower boost target. But I wouldn't worry about running the standard settings as it only targets 17-18 in the midrange where there is plenty of fuel, little timing, and plenty of turbo capacity. Boost quickly tapers off as revs rise and turbo capacity becomes a limitation.

Would you mind trying to enable the in-dash boost gauge with the new template and auto updates. If you still can't get gauge hijacking and you have a CAN car (not a 2007 car with K-line), please download the LOG (not to be mistaken for a datalog) from your OFT and email it to me at shiv@vishnutuning.com. It's a big file (4-5mb) so it will take a few minutes to download. But it will give us what we need to debug and solve the issue.

Unfortunately, it's difficult for us to do it here because our test car is a 2007 car with K-line. So your help would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers
Shiv

Fuel gauge boost hijack works on template 6 on my 08 car. I can make it register 1-2 dashes parked. What is the scale? Ie psi per 1/4 tank

Excellent. I think it was actually a firmware issue which caused the in-dash boost guage to not work. We real eased updated firmware last night which seems to have fixed the problem. Thank you for testing and confirmin.

The whole boost fuel gauge represents 0-20psi. So each 1/4 is 5psi.

Shouldn't it make more than 2-3psi at idle then? Some other issue?

Idle is 700rpm. Do you mean with the car in neutral with you revving the engine? If so, you won't see any more than a few psi of boost if you give the throttle good sharp whacks. To see more/full boost, car needs to be in gear and driving (providing actual load to the engine).

I'm not sure to be honest. We have a few things on the plate to do before we can address that. The issue with partial writes is that it does introduce risk for mis-programming (i.e., ECU getting dealership update and then attempted to write partial ROM which could potentially write over vital parts of the new ROM). So it's easy to do if we just put a disclaimer and let people go at it. But doing it while still protecting users from potential issue is the tough part that requires more thought on our end.

It'd be a good thing as long as we all know the possible scenarios that can lead to programming errors, avoiding those by doing a full write in those cases. Maybe have a popup warning on the OFT before doing a partial write?

I agree with Transport3r. Just provide partial write and full write capability. Partial write could be used to reduce tuning times with a full write being pushed on the completed ROM. Add a disclaimer for the partial write and tell users they employ at their own risk. Maybe add a force write capabilty incase the ROM is corrupted. Not sure if this is feasible?

agreed 100% Plus I think Ken is getting pretty proficient at recovering DME's. Dynos get expensive when need 30+min to make a change when paying hourly

Hi Shiv,

I have a 2008 BMW convertible, and the in dash turbo boost gauge has not worked in the past 2 or 3 updates (use to work before). In that last update (firmware 1.22 + template 6), now I also have the live data stream not working. See attached snapshot.

I was thinking of moving back to Template 3 or 4 when it worked, but I am afraid that these template version numbers only work with particular firmware versions, right?

Also, you mentioned problems with 2007 cars, could it be the same problem with 2008?

Hi Christian,
The Template files aren't necessary linked to different firmware updates. General rule of thumb is always to use the newest template file since it is going to offer the newest messages that is required for the newest firmware/features. So definitely stick with the newest Template. Realtime data and in-dash boost gauge should definitely work. Looks like you are in SF Bay. Are you somewhat local to us (Danville CA)?

curious, does a DCI produce gains on an all stock car such as mine running 93oc/stg1? Is there any flow data available suggesting what the airflow requirements are for the engine with both turbos making 17-18psi of boost? Any data stating how much airflow the stock setup is good for?
