Backpressure is never ever ever "good" when it comes to producing power. PERIOD. I have no idea where these urban myths came from but I hear them quite often........usually in the ricer circles though.
Now, designing the exhaust to maintain good velocity can improve power some.......but backpressure is just that. Backpressure.
