But I avoid the chat, I'm not really interested in (or have time for) the "social" side.

A very well behaved forum, some of the more chavvy car forums are awful!
Just in case you haven't noticed, we now have an OFF-TOPIC section!

Thanks to Mark & Jason.

another relative newcomer here - you just beat me to it. I don't really mind the O/T stuff - just include O/T in the title and people can ignore if they are not interested

If you have a thread which is 'off-topic', then please post it in the new 'OFF-TOPIC' subforum.

Thanks.

No problem, BC4J- glad to be of service.

The admins are great, but you do need to tell them what you think, if there is something you just aren't happy with.

When a few members agree with your views & actually bother to say so, then things can get sorted out.

I hope our UK section will now continue to improve & everyone makes the most of this great site.

All the very best.

Weird, you find a forum that seems to have a healthy amount of fun and socializing and suddenly people want everything to be "On Topic". Oddly, all the on topic posts seem to be pretty anal questions about which colour leather I should get and do you think my spec is "cool".

Sorry DaveC, but you have missed the point. A large number of regulars on the UK forum liked the idea of having "on topic" posts separated from "off topic" threads, which has now happened. Nobody said anything about wanting everything to be "on topic". We absolutely want a mix of both.

I just don't think you've been on here long enough to understand the problem of 'OFF-TOPIC', Dave.

Sorry.

Off topic section - thank god for that

I love an off topic banter at times as good as the rest of 'em but some of them were getting so bad they were dragging the forum down to gutter level.

I am please we have OT now - why is anyone moanin? - the OT posts still exist - just in another section that's all!

should have been coded 'the DXB forum'

I whole-heartedly agree. It was putting me off even coming and looking in. You should have seen some of the dross that was posted previously Dave to put this into context.

Positive outcome.

Hmmm takes a bit of getting used to - not very good at this multitasking lark, if the "Moved:" thing keeps staying there IMHO it is nearly as bad as the OT threads staying there? I quite liked one long list of posts to catch up on - maybe it will become easier with time

I thought you'd be happy to have the 'off-topic' subforum advertised, Carl?

Think of it as 'yourspace'!

Well said DaveC!!

It seems everyone on here posts stuff on here that can annoy others whether it be strange/pointless off topic questions. Or as it seems a lot of on-topic posts that change to sexual innuendos have way through!

I’m glad that we now have an off-topic section but let’s be honest as in real life you have people that annoy you with the things they say but you just have to ignore them. It’s seems certain people annoy more than others but people still post replies to them!!

Everyone has the right to post on here unless they break the rules and if you don’t like someone’s posts block them!!

Can’t you all just get along!!

I agree with you but as a newbie to this forum I've noticed most of the posts have some sort of comment aimed at a certain member of this forum which I am tired of reading.

Any posts I have made have had very welcome responses and am keen to get to know members better.

Let's hope the new off-topic section makes a difference!!

If you'd like to meet some of us forum members, get yourself down to the Dyno Day in Uxbridge on Saturday 8 December. More info from the links on my sig below - all are welcome, even if they're not driving BMs currently. Will start around 9:30am, and we'll go for some lunch later on. Would be a good chance to meet some of the regular contributors on here as well as other newbies... Let me know!

PS.. how long till the 335d comes along? I can't imagine how big the smile you'll have when you change from the GSi to the 335d

Hi E92 and thanks for the invite.

I've been told early December my car but they are yet to confirm a date. If I do get it in time I will definitely come down for the dyno as I'll be keen to see what bhp/lbft it produces compared to what BMW claim!

can't wait for the 335 to come had the GSi about 2 years now and just about ready for the 'small' step up to the E92
