I shipped the stock 18s out thru Fedex the other day for about $140 (not including box costs) to NorCal via FedEx. The packages were dropped off at FedEx so there was no markup.
yeah thats not even possible, maybe he means tires, and even then, $40 is way too low.

Deflate the tire next time and $450 is a lot. Your mom didn't see anything wrong with that?

all the packaging material and labor adds up to be a lot with those small shipping stores.

what does the receipt say? standard ground shipping up north with all the materials/labor shouldnt run you anymore than $300 and thats REALLY PUSHING it.

I once got a quote from Mail Boxes etc of $40 to ship UPS so I took it over to Staples and shipped it for $10 UPS.

Mail Boxes tags a huge handling fee on there or something.

BTW, you don't need to add the weight of air, so 50-60lb for wheel and tire is about right. Just average out the cost of the shipping with the cost for you being sick in bed. I guess the excessive cost was about $300 more than if shipped by UPS. Get better soon.

$300 son's bedridden mom doesn't know better fee. Sucks. Next time just cut 8 cardboard circles and tape them to either side of the wheels and have FedEx or UPS pick up from ur house. Won't be more than $200. I've shipped over 10 sets of wheels and never spent more than that.

Also, whoever said they shipped a set of wheels for $40....I'm raising the bullshit flag. Theres no way unless: you work at fedex and get the 80% discount, or shipped some 10's.

30 psi of air in the tires does not mean the air in the tires weighs 30lbs.

lol i saw the package yesterday. our ups guy was like shocked when he saw how big the boxes were and all the peanuts inside it. For sure with that packaging and all, it might really be around that price. I shipped wheels before and its under $200.

NO it doesnt, simple math can tell you
1 PSI is 1 pound of force per square inch and it doesnt mean it weighs 1 pound

you have to calculate the volume of air inside the tire and mutiply it by air density which is twice as that of of an open air

to give you an idea:
Atmospheric pressure at sea level (standard): Pa = 14.6959488 psi
Automobile tire overpressure (common): Pg = 32 psi

So there is twice as much air in a tire as if it were in an uninflated tire, common sence gives yo much less than 30 lbs withouth calculating

I get about 0.38 pound which is about 6 ounces of air is in 30 psi tire
correct me if I am wrong
