It's not a scam, if that's what you're asking. It's also not all that detailed. In the end, it's only 20 or so dollars and that's about all I'd say it's worth.

Seems to be the most user friendly and has a decent amount of info. I'm sure you could print these pages off with ease too.

Look for ISTA+ (formerly ISTA-D or Rheingold). The forum Cartechnology.uk has torrents for the latest versions.
It's the diagnostic tool suite from BMW but you can also use it offline by putting in your VIN manually and then browse for repair instructions.
