Well... I ordered my second car from BMW Manhattan 1 month ago. It is now listed as "En Route to the Port of Exit" when I call BMW NA.
This is what I ordered:

2006 330i:
Black Sapphire Metallic
Black leather
Burl walnut
Sport Package
Premium Package
Navigation
Sirius Radio
6 Speed Man.

I took a 2 year lease (which for some odd reason was less per month than the 3...perhaps by 2008 I can afford a 6 Series)
Did NOT pay the tax up front.
My total at signing (including first months payment) will be $842.35 (I already put down a $500 deposit when I ordered the car)
My monthly payment: $530.51

I am picking up a 325i base model, black on black, 6MT, for $27,700. I am going with the base model so I can mod it myself with what I want. Plus I am not too fond of the sport seats.

Three years ago, when I lived in northern NJ (6 dealerships within 30 miles of each other, 3 of them w/in 10 miles) I convinced the dealer to split the difference between his cost and MSPR. If memory serves, I saved about $4000.

Now I live in Memphis TN. Closest dealer besides the one 1 mile from my house is about 90 miles west (there's also one 120 miles east). They sell for MSRP - not a penny less.

UPDATE: Ordered the car today. Tried to give me some BS at 1.5% but I told them 1% like emailed or walking out.

End result: Ordered 325xi, Sparkling Graphite with Black int., Prem. Pkg., Cold Pkg, and xenons... $37,070.

how'd you come up with that price? invoice for that config is only 37.8

Correct – out the door price. It is a post to share comparison pricing for others in this area (the Triangle area in NC). For what it’s worth, the only other dealership in the area quoted $41,329 on the exact same build, as rock bottom, out the door. I walked away and they did too, I’ve never heard from them again. It’s good old fashion economics – supply and moreover demand/market. Apparently there are plenty of people paying that price/margin in this area.

May be able haggle with dealerships 100+ miles away to save a few hundred, but travel time and my time spent were not worth the hassle for me personally.

I have a 330xi on order with premium, sport and cold weather, along with PDC, steptronic and sat radio prep - dealer gave me 5% off msrp. If I would've ordered an E60 5 series it would've been 5% discount as well.

Seriously? I've yet to go talk to them, I'm still a few months out from buying...

I'm not against traveling to save money though, I'll buy a plane ticket and drive back...

Or better yet, do the deal over the phone, order the car and do the Performance Delivery in N.C...

I've yet to see a 325i/330i at roadshow (memphis dealer) with a manual transmission, WTF?

The post you are replying to stated MSPR and not INVOICE. The larger the amount below MSRP, the better the price will be. The poster was complaining about the lack of competition and therefore the lack of price movement from MSRP. You probably do not want to do business with that dealer.

how much was it over invoice? and who did you deal with ( assuming you went through Markel)?
