Going to refresh the front end suspension arms after the lorry tyre incident. Have noticed a bit of play and vibration. Which component is likely to cause the play ?

Tbh could be either of the control arms. Could just get the replacement M3 ones for both and be done with it.

Get the TRW-brand arms - they're the OEM for the M3 parts, but the ones they supply have the ///M logo ground off for trademark reasons. TRW parts JTC1423 and JTC1424 for the tension struts, and JTC1426 and JTC1427 for the wishbones. You'll also need the M3 headlamp alignment rod if you have self-levelling Xenons (BMW part 37142283867).

New arms and top mounts fitted today, no wonder i was having issues, the bearings in the nsf top mount were seized. Could have been like that for a bloody longtime according to my mechanic!

Not this time Mo, had enough of it now. Nearly every component on the drive train has been replaced, full M3 rear end, M3 front, new prop shaft, new diff bushes, new prop bearing. I dont enjoy it anymore.

Im buying a Prius!

Damn thats a lot of parts replaced. I can see why you're thinking of getting rid now. But its a shame as its a properly modded car. You sure you cant sort the vibration out? May be a minor part?

If you do decide to give in, are you going to stay with a BMW?

I have one last hope and thats the engine mounts, after that she is gone, as much as i love her its time she went to some chav at an auction!

Yeah i think its good to draw a line somewhere. You've done a lot to try and sort it and it's still coming back!

That's not good buddy on the issues with the vibration still. I have something similar on the X5. But like you I have invested so much into the X5 that if I part with it due to the vibration I know I am losing way too much. Plus someone gets to buy something for a bargain price when you've invested all the money so far if you know what I mean.

I have a sneaking suspicion it is the engine mounts as it does not appear if i accelerate gently, if i give it some, it manifests itself and will back off with heavy braking. Its a bloody weird one
